Not even driven it yet and says it will do a 335i [ with JB4,DCI etc] in a straight line.
True?

I'd prob favour the 335i. The M3 weighs around 100kg more than the 335i I think. Also the M3 lacks torque in the low RPM's although it probably has shorter gearing.
0-60 the M3 will have better traction, but it has to get all the way to 8000rpm before it can shine. Depends on the race type I guess, and what gearbox you have! Last edited by djgandy; 03-08-2013 at 05:42 PM.. |

Stock 335i, yes of course - its 100 bhp shy and equal peak torque (although much more peaky in the M3!)
JB4, dci, downpipes and FMIC .... altogether different, and in a straight line id say the 335i would win. |

Through watching youtube over the past year it looks like a modded 3 can take an M off the start then the M hunts it down and smashes the 3's usually.

A 335i with JB4 and downpipes can get into the 12s on the standing quarter. Any of the E92s M3s I've seen are always in the 13s and usually mid 13s too. |

Add downpipes and a uprated intercooler and the tables get turned again. Could come down to who has the better gear changes just. |

The M3 is hard to extract the maximum from. But they can do a 12.7-12.8 1/4's But a well driven 335i with JB will beat mr average in an m3, get an M3 driver who knows how to maximise it an I think those 414 ponies will shine through and it will be quicker rolling 80+mph

It'd be a very very very close race. Money is on the 335 on a straight..but in a track ///M POWEEERR!!! Either way I'd still take an M3 over a 335..its an ///M...and its frozen grey. hawt.

I doubt anything less than a stage 2 335i manual with open diff would take an m3 DCT (with launch control) from a standing start over a quarter mile.
From a roll stage 1 gets close but is still slower.. Dct makes a huge difference in both gearing and super quick shifts...

Mark has an auto which is quicker than a manual 335i so has a good chance. Although the DCT boxes change really fast which can make up for a bit of time. Want to borrow mine?

If he can't drive you will muller him.
Try rolling 50, make sure M3 is in 2nd though. Then rolling 80 with M3 in 3rd. |
