Full carbon fiber exhaust
Just want find out if anyone know anything about the exhaust/pipes, if were made from a full carbon fiber composite, will it work? can it handle the high heat from the exhaust?
i'm thinking to build a full exhaust system using the full carbon fiber composite. Last edited by BVL; 03-14-2013 at 01:51 AM.. |

You don't think High Grade Carbon Fiber is expensive?

I highly doubt you could that, the only somewhat affordable option would be to use a BMI resin wich can withstand 300 ish deg C. Then again the cost would be completely prohibitive even if you made a full productyion run out of this (molds/tooling/autoclave baking/routing) just to make something a corner muffler shop could make in SS?

It's not so much the CF but the resin that will give up and crack/melt/shatter. Exhaust tips would actually work but that's about it.

The weight savings from ultra high quality CF exhaust tips is phenomenal. Upwards of several ounces at least. That's worth a horsepower right there!

T304 stainless steel is always appropriate for an exhaust.
