Code / register battery

Anyone in SJ / Philly / DE area that has ability to help me register my new battery for my 08 335?

Looks like I can get the bavtechnic scanner for $180 and it has function to code a battery.

Thought I'd ask here before I go yo stealership or ask my Indy shop

Prices seem ridiculous for this. The scanner would be useful to have for sure.

Thanks

If you get your hands on an obd wire , and you get bmwlogger on your laptop it should be an easy thing to do yourself! plus its around 20 bucks and you'll have the ability to read codes off dme . and alot more!

Yup, that is what I would do too... thats the fastest, easiest, and most cost effective way for your to register your own battery.

So this seems like a simple process but I can understand how difficult it can be to pin-point what exactly to do. There is do much info on this topic.

Here's my attempt - please correct me if I'm wrong

1. Get less expansive aftermarket battery that is close to oem spec
2. Get obd2 wire. Any one should suffice I assume?
3. Download BMWlogger $5 and follow steps to register.

Now here is question :
Does the BMS can tool do this ?
Bavariantechnics scanner do this ?
These are $180

These might be good options to have handy and if they register battery it's a win win.

Thanks
