Do I NEED to go to the dealer for a scheduled oil change for warranty purposes?

As the subject says, do I NEED to go to dealer to have them do the first (12,000) oil change? Will it void my warranty if I dont go to them? I can understand if I dont go to them for the scheduled car inspection/service interval but I would think that an oil change wouldnt mess anything up if I do it myself.

I figure I will have to reset the oil reminder but I seem to remember there is a DIY entry for that somewhere in the forum.

Thx
