Yes, I agree that the air at the shop is not going to be as good as driving but there are a couple points to bring up... I was using a 70 MPH fan and this was to prove a point. The best test to do is actual pulls on the road, but I've done that in another thread floating around here.

Oh ok I'll keep searching. Wouldn't the actual iat be effected by the fmic since that's where the air is entering just before the intake manifold? I just read the N54 engine for dummies sticky. Or is the sensor for iat before the turbos after the cones?

I read this entire thread and so far from what i understand it is better to keep the stock intake vs a DCI?
I plan to get a JB4 soon(first engine mod, current engine is stock) so would getting the BMS DCI help or hinder the performance both long and short term? I use this car as a daily driver and do a bit of spirited driving no track though. Can someone please help me out on whether I should get a DCI with JB4 or stick with the stock filter. Thanks |

Regarding the comparison made here, yes. However, a CAI such as the Ultimate Racing CAI is the best solution for anyone running a tune, period.

Can you explain why please? Also will I suffer from sluggish low RPM starts if I get the JB4 with the DCI? Sorry if it's a it of a newbie question but that is currently what I'am

More surface space, true cold air flow and engine compartment heat is a nonissue

I'll search a bit later when I'm home, but do you have a link for the build info? I wonder how difficult it'll be.

It was pretty easy, I'm a pilot and not a mechanic if that means anything, on a scale of 1-10 it was about a 2 or 3. If you can install a piggy back tune or FMIC, you can easily do this. I also found it very fun and rewarding, just take your time with it.
