DURALAST Front Rotors Auto Zone

Has anyone tried these before? If so how are they? I was told that some of the AM rotors tend to get all rusty??

I need to replace the front ones. They are only $44.95 each in comparison to a discounte price of $94 each at the stealership. Any advice guys??

LOL on the 5 series BMW goes to the effort of riveting cast aluminum hats to the rotors, to save 4 lbs. of unsprung weight at each corner, maybe it's not true with the 3. But it's funny that people undo that effort and put $44 rotors on their BMW. You can save a lot of money with Ling Long tires too. Take the L788 for example:

THE PATTERN HAVE THE STRONG GRIPPAGE, INCREASE THE CAPABILITY OF SWERVE WHEN IT IS HIGH SPEED LOW NOISE

I ALWAYS upgrade my brakes. That being said - I adore the way my 328i stops.

Don't buy brakes from Auto Zone. Friend went the cheap route and put them on his old Acura and the rotor broke in half.

Edit: I should probably say not all Auto Zone parts are bad, just the ones he bought. Could have been a case to case thing.

Speaking of brakes...I'm due for replacement pads/rotors in 30k km. I wanted to get a jump on ordering as I'm actually contemplating upgrading the rear brakes to something that'll be more responsive and quiet/quality for every day driving. I wanna be able to stop on a dime when I add the 100hp/100trq

Ask if they have Centric rotors.. will be a bit more money, but they are quality parts. Autozone does carry decent parts, but they also have very cheap parts. choose wisely.

I actually use duralast rotors on my old honda, and have never had a problem, even after multiple track days (turned the rotor hats purple from all the heat). I inspect them every so often, and replace them every year or so (depending on how many events the car sees), which is easy because they are $18 each.

While there are better ones out there, they'd be just fine as a replacement for a daily driver car if you're on a budget. Just think of how many hundreds-of-billions of miles (probably trillions) people have collectively driven on local, auto store quality brakes. Somehow they manage just fine. Noisy brakes as mentoned earlier are almost always 100% the pads, either the model used or improper installation (not properly lubricated).

I've used Duralast parts for years on many different cars. I've seen Made in USA, China, Japan, Germany, Italy, etc. on all different things. Autozone doesn't MAKE most of their Duralast branded parts. They just relabel parts made by other companies, most of which are reputable, aftermarket manufacturers. They're not all great parts, but in-general their stuff is of reasonable quality, often with a Lifetime warranty.

That being said, I rarely have used Duralast parts on my BMW. Mostly because there are usually better quality options, for cheaper, somewhere online.
