One thing that I think should have been included in the lease template was whether the person ordered it or took it from dealer inventory. I'm not a salesman, but I would think that may play into the deal, too. Though it seems far cheaper for a dealer to just punch some buttons and order a car without having to floorplan it for more than a day or two, they always seem more easger to dump what they have on the lot because it's costing them money...

Just a thought. Good thread. I need to know what the deal is going to be when I order my '09 335.

I had to put down 2500 to get that deal over here in NJ. I'm paying 475/month though

That's what I did too! My price was a lot higher because of everything extra that they just tacked on to the monthly payment, i.e. road hazard insurance, lowjack, etc.

And I got my car with .1 miles on it.

Yeah he works at Main Line BMW like 5 days a week. If I worked there that much I would expect those type of monthly payments also.

How do you figure? If they bumped the sell rate on the MF, that doesn't affect your buyout. If they jacked up the price of the car (or didn't reduce it) that doesn't effect the residual, which is calculated based off the MSRP.

Your buyout will be the same regardless of your note, because the lease is based on the selling price of the car LESS the residual and then multiplied by the finance rate.

Gross Cap-Cap Cost Reduction=Cap Cost
Cap Cost-Residual=Depreciation
Depreciation+Finance charge=Payments
Payments/Term = Payment

Not to rain on your parade...

I feel the same about buying. You lease because you do not want to own something that depriciates. Everyone would rent a house if they depreciated and would not buy. Secondly when you lease your paying about 15 cents per mile on the lease. The car will actually depriciate at about 25-30 cents a mile so your making up money there. If you drive a lot of miles leasing makes MUCH more sense to me than buying because your buying mileage on lease for for 15 cents a mile which is almost half of what it would be if you bought the car. Next reason is you dont have to put down 20-25 thousand dollars to get to the same payment. You can then invest that money and get a return on it. Also if you have a BMW and get into an accident the car is worth less on trade or private sale. If you lease it and get in an accident it is not your problem because you leasing it and just return it at the end. Lastly maintenence is included until 50k or 4 years so you dont have to orry about paying for any serivce on the car. These are the reasons why leasing makes more sense that buying to me.

If I did buy a car it would not be new. I woula buy a 2 year old low mileage CPO because with the new car it depreciates more in the first 2 years than at any other time and if it is CPO you get the 100,000 mile warranty. I Know they have 0.9% financing now and I have done the math and it STILL makes no sense to buy. If you buy a car it only makes sense if you drive it until the car is no longer worth much money. I just dont think it makes sense to own somthing that is worth less adn less as time goes by. Hopefully you now can understand leasing and why in most cases it is makes sense for some to lease.

Please lets just keep posting info on leases.
Thanks guys

Why will all of that change soon???
Is BMW going to stop leasing vehicles like Chyrstler did???
Nope
And leasing is about 70%of the cars now.

I have a 2006 330i with many options as you can see in my signature.

Year: 2006
Make: BMW
Model: 330i e90
Options/packages: See sig
Months: 36
Miles: 15,000
Down Payment: 2400 total out of pocket
Monthly Payment: $525
Discount/Incentives: MSRP about $45765 Buy $42,805
Location: NJ

This is a regualr lease because there was no employee lease available whe I got my car. It came out 6 months later and I almost put my head though a wall because a 335i sedan would be less money than I am paying now.

Just for reference on other cars. This number is so good because its a special lease through BMW for sellin over 120 cars last year. I know it is not a 3 series but just here for reference.

Year: 2008
Make: BMW
Model: X3 3.0si
Options/packages: See sig
Months: 24
Miles: 18,000
Down Payment: 2700 total out of pocket
Monthly Payment: $399
Discount/Incentives: MSRP about $47950 Buy price $42190
Location: NJ

Next year the payment will go down to $349 if I sell over 120 cars again this year which I will do. My goal is 145-150.
