Down Pipes Have A Leak?

Hello all, I was wondering how can you tell if downpipes have a leak or are cracked in any way prior to installing them on my 335.

I amy buying a used set and want to ensure that they are in good working condition before I pay to have them installed.

can anyone help me out with any suggestions.

thank you

Easiest way you could tell if there's a leak in the actual DP is poor some water in it, see if it leaks out of the side walls of the pipe or near the o2 sensors. If the DPs are "leak free", buy some new DP gaskets (~$20) to make sure you've got a quality seal.

Ok thank you, I was thinking about doing that with water but then I thought that it may be bad for water to get in there?

Any suggestion on th type of gasket?

Thanks again for your help

Water is fine, a corrosive liquid (gasoline) would be awful. If you put water in there just make sure its 100% dry before install, dry it out w/ compressed air from gas station. If you need replacement gaskets, BMS & AR sell them, but you could also get generic AutoZone/NAPA gaskets as long as they fit appropriately.
