Help my bro decide guys/gals...

So, my bro's trading in his NSX soon. He's deciding between the new S4 or a SC430. He wants something more "practical" than is NSX.

THE SC430 is a crime against everything good in the automotive industry

it has the ugliest wheels stock on any car in the last 20 years
(it does drive better than the caddy 2 seater, but that ain't saying much)

well, this is really a no brainer, S4 offer practicality with 4 doors, and goes like stink, SC430 is like a sport coupe for old foggies. That's my 0.02

S4--no brainer.

Of course, why doesn't he like BMW? A loaded 335i or an M3 will probably be around the same price range.

An NSX to S4 is a downgrade in my opinion. What year NSX?

"downgrade", it's all relative, for his bro, he probably values "practicality" over "performance" at this stage of his life, so in his book, gaining more practicality while sacrificing some performance is an upgrade for him.

Its a '97 NSX-T.

My brother had a real "bad" 328ci a few years ago, and he decided never to buy a BMW again, or else I'd tell him to get an M3.

The wheels are the fugliest thing on the car. He's for sure going to upgrade to some nicer wheels if he gets the SC430.

He test drove both last night (both auto's) and said the s4 did not seem THAT much faster than the SC430. He's leaning towards the SC430.

If he gets the SC, it will look something like this, basically some soft mod's like wheels and intake, etc.:

The SC430 is an ugly, heavy piece of crap. S4!

I don't see that offering more practicality over the NSX??? though the S4 might not be faster than a SC430, it'll definitely outhandle the SC430.

the S4 is pretty significantly faster then the boat SC430, better looking, more practical, average owner's age isn't 64

I wouldn't buy an SC430 if it was 20 grand brand new

Too bad he can't keep the NSX. I would love to have one just as a toy, especially now since they aren't made anymore.

lol it doesn't matter what year the NSX is, it's been pretty much the same throughout its production run.

The NSX is a pretty practical supercar. I'd go for the S4 though, the SC430 is a horrible car imo.

the first ones were pretty underpowered, but that problem was handled by the end of the run. An early NSX could easily be owned by any S4 or even an E36 M3

If he's going for the price range of a SC430, why wouldn't he consider a 6 series...?

I disagree. Personally, the last model was pretty good looking over the outdated, older model.

Aside from the headlights and the front bumper, nothing's really changed. Both look great.
