In case of accident, will any airbag deploy with this coding?

Did this to clear my my airbag and passenger seat lights on my dash... the coding method from apkraven works perfectly! I followed what he said here:
hey, i finally got time to manage the coding thing, the options to disable the seat airbags are called : sidebag_links sidebag_rechts (set to nicht_aktiv) the option to disable the seat occupancy sensor both contain "oc3" (set to nicht_aktiv) both in ABG module of course. hope it helps someone. i now have fully functioning 911 seats in my 335i instead of ugly and unsporty leatherette stockers I didn't have to play around with the airbag coding... I just disabled the OC3 and cleared any errors I got in INPA

Can someone confirm that this is the icon you see when you have this issue?
Can someone summarize the way to code out the error? If there is a way to diagnose the real issue and correct it, can someone please explain |

to do this, you need NCSexpert. (go to the "BMW Coding Success" thread and follow the DIY instructions step by step). If you are familiar with using NCSexpert, the go to the ABG module, look for the "OC3" and disable it. If the above steps dont' make sense to you still, please read through this thread & read this .PDF carefully

I see that this was a recall issue for 2006 3-series with non-sport seats and other models. Did anyone else have this replaced under warrentee?

Okay so, I did an interior swap, and my old seats had these warning lights, and the new seats I have have the same issue? Bad occupancy sensor? Seems unlikely. Wish I could just read the airbag module so I could get some detailed info. Like when the error occured.

If you're getting the restraint malfunction code on your dash, you can disable the passenger occupancy mat. With the code thrown, the passenger airbag is off regardless. Once you disable the occupancy mat, I'm fairly certain I read that the passenger airbags are always on so you do not need to worry

This method does work. You need to code it out, disconnect it then clear the code.

1.You must use ncs expert to code the OC3 vales to non active, there are two.
2.Then disconnect the sensor for the mat under your passenger seat which is located at the back of the seat. 3.Clear the code by which ever you like, inpa bt tool ect. FYI you will not be able to clear the code while the sensor is still plugged in, i tried but you have to disconnect it. 4. No more red lights on dash, or passengers asking if their airbags work

It worked!!! First time, it didn't want to budge, but I erased the TRC and MAN files and reread and rewrote it with the new codings and it worked. |

My OC3 is already set to not active but if I disconnect the mat from the seat the fault shows up on the dash and wont clear. Any advice on how to fix this?
Cheers Incase any one has same problem I sorted it by setting SBE1_1_CD to not active Last edited by Wan15bad; 08-23-2013 at 01:31 PM.. Reason: Update |

Thank you, nicht_active SBE1_1_CD saved my day. Any idea what does SBE1_1_CD stands for? BTW, once you turned of mat sensor, there is no seatbelt warning if there's a passenger and seatbelt unbuckled, right?

I've just been doon a car tonight (2008 e92) and he lad has put a bypass kit in to stop the error light
Cleared all codes but it keeps coming back as SBE on the airbag module Any ideas? Does he need to unplug the bupass kit and just code it out? Is the seatbelt pretentionor able to be coded out at all? Cheers |
