Factory alarm $750 installed
My crystal ball tells me this thread will attract some attention because I'm probably paying more than I should to have this feature. I did a search on e90post, and apparently some are getting this for $500 or less.
Since I will be getting my car either today or tomorrow, I figured it would save me time to have the dealership install and program the factory alarm. I do not have the luxury of time to install this myself or shop around for a better price, drive further, wait longer, etc. Is the $750 alarm and install price ridiculous? |

My dealer is charging me $450 installed and I thought that was highway robbery. How hard did you work them on the deal for the car? Are they trying to make up some lost dollars on the car?
I'm having my dealer do the install for some of the same reasons you outlined, and I did work them pretty hard for the price so I didn't mind giving them a little bit on the alarm. After all I want them to be around after the fact to service my car. Good luck

Oh well, I guess I'm a softie. I'm getting a not-so-bad, not-so-great deal on the car. 44,650 for all options minus the auto trans, active steering and active cruise control. List is 46,115.

Thats what my dealer quoted me. I can buy it from anywhere else (cheapest is Pacificbmw.com for $250 with shipping) & he will install it for $105. Try negotiating, beca it is a dealer installed option & there is a chance that it might still not be installed... |

What is usually the hourly rate for labor at BMW dealerships? This guy told me that the internal cost for the alarm was $250, so apparently I'm being charged near $500 for labor? The 750 includes tax.

That’s pretty expensive. I have been calling dealers around So Cal and have been getting prices in the $200s for installation. I think every dealers hourly rate for labor varies not sure though...Good Luck

Man, I'm such a sucker. Might as well wear a sign that says "kick me" when I go into the dealership tonight.
