F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone

Hello all

I've managed to blag a couple of tickets for the F1 on Sunday, having only been an armchair fan before, I need to know what a good time to get there is? Where to watch from etc, as I haven't got grandstand tickets.

Cheers in advance

Take some earplugs

I can't remember all the names but I like the start of the main straight opposite the pit entry as you see quite a few corners then the roar as they floor it over the start finish but they are grandstand sears.

Under the tunnel and behind the pit straight is a good spot to see them as the f1 cars barely lift after the first corner. Hearing then at full pelt really is something.

The new bit next to the car park is worth a look in too. Perhaps less busy too.

Don't forget the ear plugs

The most thrilling experience in a Grand Prix is the sound conmiong out of these beasts. Dont take earplugs, unless you are having a kid with you.

Will never forget the sound coming out of the old 3.2 engines they used only for qualifying back in the 2002.. That McLaren Mercedes engine sound was awsome

I agree; earplugs are a must-have as the shrill noise will give you a mobster headache after the first 20 mins!

You would be insane to sit for any period of time next to the silverstone track without ear protection.

It actually gets uncomfortable without.

Enjoy the noise from a distance and its no less pleasurable with earplugs. You can still hear everything but your heads not hurting to the core.

Earplugs are mandatory. Please ignore the advice not to take any.

Copse is the best place to watch imo. Time wise, I don't really know. Back in the old days (watching Mansell in red 5) I would get there for 5.30am to queue for tickets and get a good spot.

Britcar racing gave me a splitting headache after an hour!!!

I couldn't endure any more than 15mins of F1 without earplugs!

Agreed, they are noisy beasts. Even worse sat in the grandstand complex though.
