USB/iPod n00b confusion
I am looking at purchasing a 2009 335i e90 that does not have the USB/iPod option.
What is missing from this option? Is the USB plug and wiring there? Do I just need a cable? I definitely want to be able to control the ipod with the idrive. |

OK. It looks like I cant install USB, but there is a iPod retrofit that costs a few hundred.. Looks like this is a deal breaker for me. It was a toss up between a sedan and coupe, but the coupe is winning on the option front.

You're absolutely sure it doesn't have the USB option? This may not be much help, but I've seldom seen many new e90s that don't have it. If the car has a USB port, you can play music from a USB thumb drive and control the movement through playlists, etc. from the steering wheel buttons. Particularly if the car doesn't have iDrive, the iPod interface with the iPod option is pretty lame. I'm finding I'm better off just using the USB drive solution (and plugging my iPod Touch in for Pandora/etc. to the AUX port....which isn't controllable through the iPod interface anyway).
