My roommate got a DUI last night

My roommate left the club to take some girl home at 2 am. He only had his day time running lights on in his Volkswagen GTI. He blew a 0.15.

Cinco de Mayo is a drinking weekend. There are a lot of dui check points set up. This would be one of the worst weekends to drink and drive.

A training power point at my work says that 1 in 50 drivers on the road are intoxicated. On the weekends between 10 pm and 2 am, 1 in 10 drivers are intoxicated. I'm sure the police know these statistics and are looking for drunk people at this time, especially on a "drinking holiday" weekend.

People drink and drive and a lot of people have at least one DUI on their record. The penalties are getting stiffer though and repeat offenders can have their licenses permanently revoked.

Agree this belongs in OT

Similar thing happened to a buddy's gf. We went to a company's holiday party together. Me and the lady spent the night at that hotel. My buddy and his gf drove home. She wasn't paying attention since it was bright in the parking garage so she only had her daytime light on. Cops pulled her over and she got booked for DUI. She had to go through a lot for it- court dates, community service, lawyers, etc. It's definitely not worth it. I don't remember how intoxicated she was. I think it was a little above .08.

By DUI, you mean yourself right? That's what happens when your desperate to take a random bi*ch home driving drunk.

Should have your license revoked automatically if you get a DUI, current punishments are not strict enough.

+1

But unfortunately they only care about the money they can extract from (repeat) offenders, not the safety of innocent people who might get killed from DUI accidents.

shit happens...dont' drink and then drive..

Unfortunately, he'll have to explain this on his job applications for the rest of his life. That's why this risk is NEVER worth taking, it has a lot of downstream consequences even if there's no accident associated with this.

If they were seriously going to enforce DUI's, alot of businesses would close up. Even going out to a nice dinner and having 2 drinks could put some people over the limit.

A local billboard quotes "You just blew $10,000"

The local DUI checkpoints are starting to put up big posters of a person killed by DUI drivers locally, and the accident scene, as you wait in line for the checkpoint.

Lets Simplify this:
---Its a $10,000 mistake...........Period,case closed.---

The state, lawyers, local township, insurance companies ALL have their hands IN YOUR POCKETs!!!(Its BS about public safety, the goverments can care less about your safety. they just want some Drama/quick cash money$$$)
This is why the limit has been lowered to .08 to "catch" all social drinkers. C'mon some people can smell alcohol and they can blow .08)
Some of my friends have gotten DUI, I tell them to MAN up and Pay UP.
