Infiniti G25 discontinued after this year?

Someone I know is in the market for a new Infiniti G and wanted to downscale from his current G35 to a G25 in hopes it will return better fuel mileage and save him some $$$ upfront.

Long story short he went to a dealership and was told that after this year the G25 is being discontinued and that there was only one left on the lot. I smell bullsh*t, this car was just released and I can't find any articles to that effect online. I'm guessing its a ploy by the sales person to move a G37 instead or that they don't have any more G25's. Maybe production is already done for this year's G25? Although I don't see why he wouldn't want to move the last G25...if he even had one

Haven't heard anything about them being discontinued. I've only seen 1 on the road since its been release. I wouldn't be surprise though.

I wouldn't be surprised because they never sold many G25s. Most people still prefer G37 in North America. Now that they are about to be redesigned and will come out with new engines too. Rumour says a 3.0L Turbo engine will be widely used on those new Gs.

I guess I'm surprised because if cars like the Acura TSX 4 cylinder and the Audi 2.0T when it only made 200HP were popular even though more powerful versions of the car existed how come this formula didn't work with the Infiniti? Didn't they do their market research before releasing the car?

I also read somewhere that the car was originally green-lighted so they would have an efficient luxury car for the Asian market so I wonder if is only discontinued in North America.

At least for the Audi, the turbo gave it more torque so the car was more drivable.

It's is only discontinued in North America. The 25s are still widely available elsewhere in the other parts of the world. In some places, the 25s make more sense instead of the 37s. I am guess that nissan might come out with a 2.0T engine in the future, until then, we might see a next generation G20 returning.
