2nd gear "slipping"?

Hi:

I'm not sure if I have a problem or not, so I thought I'd ask other 335d owners if their cars exhibit the same "characteristic".... Here goes.

Is your 2nd gear slow to engage fully? Especially when coming to a "california stop" - not a complete stop.... slow to about 10 mph from 35 mph, then accelerate away, and the 2nd gear slips uniformly for a bit, then fully engages.

One side of me thinks it is intentional to be "smooth", but then the another side of me thinks that it is crazy to slip the 2nd "gear" so much.

What say you? What does your D do?

you probably need a new clutch, does it usually slip when it reaches higher RPMs?

Mine does it, I think it's probably for smoothness.

All 'd's in the USA are automatics - no clutch of the kind you are thinking of.

Sounds like the torque converter doing it's job and not slippage.

Yep, that's just the torque converter doing its job.

Thanks for the comments. I've never driven an automatic that is so delayed in 2nd gear...

yeah its normal till it locks up. you can see and feel the rpms kinda shuttering a bit till it locks up,

only happens in 2nd gear

Is this 335d specific? The loaner 328 (talk about a dog) I was given a couple of months ago didn't seem to have the same behavior.
