Remap 335D?

*Readies Flamesuit*

Had the car since July this year and honestly………………………every day feels like it's brand new, like I've only had it a day...you know, I still turn around every night after parking it lol. I just don't see that novelty factor changing in the near future at all. Truth be told, I'm still stunned by it's torque and power, I just don't know whether I really need it remapped? I see from the figures that the gains are plenty and exponential but what long term effects will they have on the car which does say about 15k p/annum or so…?

I know everyone dances about remaps and I guess not having been in one, I’m not pushed to have one myself… but I have seen what it can do to a PRE LCI 325D and LCI 335D and I was truly impressed!

The saying, “if its not broken, don’t try and fix it” would apply.. Question is - If I’m already loving how powerful a standard 335D engine is and what it produces, should I bother with a map?

Sam

Its the torque that impresses every time you drive it. You cannot be unimpressed with the ''shove'' even in stock form. Just imagine an even more impressive shove.

LOL, I see.. so what if any, implications are associated with a map? Decreased life expectancy of the engine long term, any boost pipe (flexi hose) issues etc? Also, When is best to get a DPF delete done, if at all? It's currently under 50k on the clock if that helps at all....

The boost hose will come loose even standard..... There is an updated hose and fitment.

The increase is large but a massive safety factor is built into the car so therefore it will not massively affect the life expectancy.

Poor maintenance and abuse shortens life expectancy. Decent maps have built in torque limiters in first and second gears to protect the 'box.

335 d or i , respond really good to remaps....if you want to take it easy, u start with a JB D....but eventually, you will want more....

Just starting a thread about remaps tells you something...

slowly...you will feel the urge...

No point resisting....

Couple of points to bear in mind...your insurance will go up (and if you choose not to tell your insurance then you are effectively running around uninsured), and it will affect your warranty if they find an issue that could be related to a remap. Bit of a gamble, but if you are prepared to take the risk then go for it.

Remapped anything on anything is irrelivent with the correct tyre choice.

I've got my winters going on in 2 weeks. And couldn't care less about the snow. I'll still be driving the car every day.

Just get yourself over to Jason and get the car mapped already

Hey dude, Evolve would be cool but they're a bit far from me. There's another local indy nearer to where I am and many people on another forum I'm on have used him plenty of times. He's a top guy as well so will go to him.

Outgoings are crazy for now so no remapping for another month or two but I'll be getting on it soon I fear lol.
