320i MPG
Hi all
I have recently bought a 320i auto (yes I did read the technical forum before). But I have a question regarding what MPG I should be getting from it? I am not driving like a bat out of he#l but I am only getting low 30's from it? Does this sound right? It is a 2007 E92 coupe with the auto box fitted. Cheers David |

Hi am getting around 24-26 depending on traffic in the city and in the motorways around 45mpg with 70-80mph. My main usage is weekly 240miles of motorway and around 30 miles of town driving. I do a full tank fill up every 1.5 weeks...hope this helps.

Ok I wonder if I should get the garage to have a look at it, I don't think that I have ever managed to get low 40's out of it yet and I have done about 1000 miles so far in it of mixed driving.
I think it is due back to BMW anyway to get my spare key programmed so might have a chat with them and see what they think. Cheers |

That sounds pretty amazing to me, many in the 320d auto only get from 29-40mpg, so to get that from a petrol is good going.

IMVHO there isnt anything wrong with it. I drove one (also Auto) in SA for 1,000 miles and even doing long cruises it gave not much more than 30mpg. Not one of BMW's better efforts.

On a different note but could still be related, is it normal for the 320i to have as much emissions coming out of the back even on not the coldest of mornings?
I am still not convinced that the engine is correct, my dad has a pre ED 320i auto tourer and he manages about 32 mpg out of his, so I wonder why I can't get more out of my coupe with ED. Need to find a independent near Glasgow to have a look, don't trust the dealers any more. |

If that is a pre ED model it sounds about right. I have a E91 ED 318i which has a de-tuned ver of the 320i and I'm averaging about 43mpg. Pretty good considering my old 1.8 accord averaged about 30mpg.
Given that yours is an auto as well I'd say it was ok. |

I was moaning about this in my 'whats the point in the small bmw engines' thread.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=498226 Ok i was referring to diesels but i now have a 330i and have averaged over 5000 miles 27.9mpg, average speed 28.something. Seems to make little difference what size of engine you have the mpg is similar. |
