anybody running 1000 watts or so in an e90/92?
I'm thinking of putting an Fi Q sub in my E92 and they like about 1000w rms. I wondered how much of a system people have installed in their 3 series without causing problems?
I don't want to upgrade the charging system and I don't want to fry the stock setup either. I can always get something that requires less power but I figured I would at least research the possibility first. thanks! |

i have a 1500 wtt. mrv-1507 alpine v12 amp w three jl 10' w6v2. i also have two stinger caps in the trunk cubby! sounds amazin. there is actually too much bass now. i broke the spring that pops the gas door open last week. as soon as i get sum time this week, im gonna dynamat the trunk!
i will tell u this...with the ridgity of the trunk, it pretty much becomes a giant rattle chamber. the trunk and the quarter panels on my car do some nice dancing now! lol. license plate frame goes nuts too! i wanna put my jl 1000.1 in the trunk, because its honestly too much bass now. i had this setup in my benz w fold down seats, and it seems like a majority of the bass escaped out of the seats in the merc. so it didnt have as much of a tendency to rattle!

Cool, thanks for the input.
Did you have much trouble with dimming or dishcarged battery? I'm not a superbasshead, I don't need anything ridiculous(I do want to keep my hearing). But I do like hard hitting bass. p.s. are you running stock front speakers too? I'm just wondering how well the sub would match with the stock system. I don't want boom and nothing else. |

no, no problems w dimming on the dash. the power caps are really doing their job. they only thing i do notice is a slight surge in rpms, but thats expected when pullin so much juice.
yes i have the stock system upfront. they sound great. i can adjust the settings through the radio's eq. i also have an alpine bass knob by my knee so i can tweak the subs there too! i think its a perfect setup for what u are looking for!

Coolio! Thanks for posting up.
I'll be using less than 1k watts so I'll try it without caps first. I'll probably run one of those remote gain knobs too. It's nice to have the control when you want to bump more with certain music. |
