Yup, Shim is a bargain! Those are basically all the same steps Shim takes, just with more expensive materials.

Interesting video, but that applying of wax by bare hand seems a bit extreme.

I've seen this before. All the guys over on autopia do an equal, if not better job than him. He's a good marketer though.

Aside from his wax and clearcoat measuring laser thing, he uses the same stuff most detailers use.

As for the hand application of wax, you can do it with any carnauba paste wax, some guys seem to prefer applying it like that. I actually want to try that out.

God if I see this posted one more time.. His site is http://www.miracledetail.co.uk/

The guy does a good job, no doubt - at some point you reach a plateau in detailing where you can not remove any more imperfections and there is nothing left to clean, so there are definitely guys out there as good as him. The difference is he is a brilliant businessman - he's set his business up in a way that people use him to say they've used him. He tells clients he will need the car for a week to make it seem like he is doing more work than he is (not to say he doesn't do a lot of work, but a week is ridiculous). He uses very expensive equipment and products to promote that perception (fwiw, an electrograph PTG runs over $25k).

Oh, and applying Royale by hand is the only way you can do it. The wax has so much white carnauba it is rock solid in the tub, you need the heat of your hand to emulsify it before application.

I remember reading in the paper about a guy here in the GTA who completely disassembles the inside of your car in the process of cleaning it. I really can't remember who it is though... he'll pull the seats totally out of the car just to get to the dirt underneath them. Based on what I recall, he seemed to be doing fine in terms of clientele. Maybe picus knows?

Ya, I know about him - I don't think he details anymore due to age. FWIW, when I do interior detailing I usually take out the seats.

Oh good stuff, and you're probably right cause he looked like an older gentleman from what I remember on the news. I'll definitely have to look you up after the winter when I have about 10lb of crap dried up on the carpets to clean out

Shim, you can use my car as a test car - free of charge to you. Just make sure I get her back with a good code of shine.
