You will not need to CODE the car, that is only for the black batteries on 5 series. You need to REGISTER the new battery, this resets the charging system...it lets the system know there is a new battery in the car and not to continue charging harder on the new battery as it was for the weakened battery.
If you do not register it, the worst that can happen is it will shorten the life of the battery. |

I would say OEM stuff is good. That's why you pay the premium for a BMW, to get quality parts. I have the original battery in my 07 and it still going strong. I am not sure how long the other people's Walmart batteries have lasted.

You know all the batteries are made by 3 companies right? You can buy the same battery at napa with a different sticker.

Just got some random warnings today (pretty much every system in the car) came on with yellow warnings one after another... and then the yellow Parking Brake and yellow Traction Control off light came on and stayed on the whole time. I also lost the traction control system altogether.
After a restart they all went away and I regained traction control back. I've read that these are all common errors associated with a dieing battery but I was wondering why on earth the TCS system would completely fail on me? Can anyone confirm 100% that the TCS system dieing out after all those warnings can still just be indicative of a dieing battery or a more serious problem?

yes i know that. just like craftsman makes the tool brand "evolve". are they the same quality? no. companies make different quality products with different names. the only way to tell if the quality is the same is through testing and i never looked into it. they might be the same they might not, i don't know. the weight is definitely different between the stock one and walmart one for sure.
