bhp increases for a 325 e92 (2.5)

are there any increases I can do easily on my 325i, it's fast enough usually, and there is nothing to be remapped, but any body else done anything to increase the acceleration?

What are you looking for?

A remap will give you small bhp/torque increase but not night/day like on a diesel. It does make a difference though - my e46 330ci is remapped and I owned at the same time as I bought another 330ci and could tell the difference driving them back to back.

A sprintbooster makes the throttle more sensitive and gives a feeling of quicker acceleration as it responds faster to the pedal inputs.

Or you can do exhaust and air filter mods (decat, induction kit) for better breathing which should give better pickup in the low end.

Will be hard to get any useful increase, just rev it more, the 325 needs a lot of revs to perform.

The 325 seems to be forgotten in terms of tuning. This is quite possibly due to the bigger gains to be had by the turbo models be it petrol or diesel.

I've searched a few times without much luck and got to the point where I've given up until/unless I get a turbo E92.

You could do the filter, exhaust and remap combo but for the hassle and money don't expect great gains. Maybe around 230bhp with those mods? Probably looking at a grand too.

Exactly the issue with NA engines. Yes you can put an exhaust on, free flowing one but then these exhuasts just sound loud and minimise backpressure therefore sacrficing low end torque and giving better high end power. Better for track use or something of the like. either way like this fella above said you could just rev it more.

Failing that if you must get an exhaust system then check then try and find one which compliments your driving style.

failing that new Headers, manifold etc but the your talking a fair few gold coins there chap.

£2k for a near 50% BHP increase? Hmm, sounds too good to be true. I don't think it will be boosted for the money, which could get those type of gains. Cams, remap and breathing mods?

i cant see 302bhp on a 325i unless its a 3.0 325i

my 325 is a 2.5 loverly and smooth but yeah you have to rev it ,but then it sings ;-)
quicker than my old 330ci still though

You sure there wasn't something wrong with your 330 then?

The e46 330 had more bhp and torque than even the 3.0l e92 2.5i, and was about the same weight

So far i have been told he can change both the intake manifold & exhaust manifold, install a cold air intake system & full exhaust system before reprogramming the ecu, estimated increase to reach just over 300, but not by much!!

Cost...i feel buggered!! Big time!!
Talking 3-3.5k...

Not sure what to do, more research i think

if you want more power the easy way is to sell it and buy a 335i or m3

e46 330 = 221bhp(it had 80k on the clock) and my e92 (with 35k miles) 218bhp
the 330 was brill but the 325 has more accessable power

That is true & after having been quoted £100 per year cheaper to insure a 335i i was very tempted! However i like different & if i can play with the N52 & have some fun then i'd rather keep it

Meaning I have been given strict orders & I quote
"You get another new car & your sleeping in it!!"

E46's are 231bhp - thats why I ask. Although power is one thing, delivery is another. I've never driven an e90/1/2 325 so I can't comment, but I know that the delivery on the e46's is not great IMHO (all up top) so it could very well be that the newer 325 delivers it better and is more accessible.

I test drove a e46 330 coupe, my brother has a e46 330 'vert, and my e92 325 coupe is quicker than both. It doesn't always feel it, the engine doesn't really 'sing' until between 3k+ revs, but it is quicker. I think its because a) its quieter inside so doesn't sound as lairy b) its a lot lighter.

I think that's more than the price I've seen for a 335i engine conversion.

But if it's cheaper to insure a 335 then get that. Just make sure you get the same colour combo and she'll never know lol.
