Seeing a lot of 335i cars with "lemon law" branded titles. Would you buy?

Presumably these were returned over the HPFP problem.
Has this been fixed yet? Good buy or headaches in the future? I generally keep cars a long time. Last edited by pmc123; 01-04-2012 at 12:16 PM.. |

Most are for the HPFP.
Some states (like CA) are super loose with their lemon laws... I've seen a car returned there because the cupholder failed 5 times (translates to: someone probably bought it and couldn't afford it, so they complained enough to lemon it). They can be great savings if you find the right one. |

I used to have a lemon law 335i. It got lemon law'd because of the HPFP. If BMW had made a recall on that part sooner, then the cars wouldn't even be "lemons".
The HPFP's warranty, weather lemon law or not, has been extending to 120K miles. BMW also still looked at my lemon law'd 335i for free when I thought it may have another HPFP issue. Turned out to be a coil going bad though.

Also keep in mind only a few banks finance lemon cars. Capital one being 1 of the very few. And sometimes they're not very competitive on their rates. Unless you have excellent credit, of course.
So sometimes finding a CPO or a used one with clean title but couple thousand more and going through BMW financial or local credit union will net u the same payment cuz of the lower Apr. So contact your local credit union and find out if they finance lemon cars. |

It would be nice if you could get a print out of the cars service record. At least then you would know why it was lemoned and if that complaint has finally been fixed.
I assume you would be buying this type of car from some place other then a BMW dealership, but the place your buying from might have connections to get the service record. |
