Moving to the Royal Oak/Ferndale area in the next month or so after accepting a position at Ford, how are the roads around there? I'm lowered on KW V1s and 19s, a little worried about my height.

You'll be fine. Just some roads are pretty bad, but Royal Oak area has good roads.

as long as you're not a stance-bro with -10deg camber and can steer, you'll be fine. drive slow, constantly scan the road ahead of you. and eventually, create a route to work that has the fewest potholes.

Too bad you're not going to be here for Fast 7 premiere. But this summer there will be lots of get togethers!

Roads here are terrible...former northeaster as well. Be prepared to constantly duck potholes. The dearborn area is notoriously bad, especially I75 and I94 imo.

TBH, I don't think its that much worse than the northeast tristate area, but if you are slammed on 35 or 30 section tires, you are going to feel it.

What do you consider bad? Michigan has some of the worst roads in the country, if not the worst. Even Ohio has better roads than we do.

I bent 7 wheels on my e90 driving around the Ann Arbor/Detroit area in the last 5 years on 17s. Given they were RFTs - bending got a lot less when I switched to non RFT.

They have fixed a bunch of roads in the last year or so, but its still not great.

Here is a road in downtown Ann Arbor from last spring. Its probably one of the worst examples and they have since fixed it, but still it gives you an idea of how bad they let things get before they work on them.

I'm originally from the Southwest side of the state and also attended U of M so I have an idea of the roads. That is pretty excessive for bent wheels, hopefully you've managed to dodge more recently. I don't daily my car so I should be able to find out where the terrible places are with my beater. Appreciate all the input though guys.

Yeah 7 wheels is a lot to bend haha. I've bent 1 myself.

Yeah 7 is a lot. The 2006 e90 came CPO with 3 bent wheels. It had been originally purchased/driven in the Chicago/Milwaukee area.

Then between my summer set and my winter set I bent a few more over the course of 5 years. A lot can be attributed to the first gen bridgestone runflats that car originally had. They were hard as rocks and didn't absorb any of the impact. I also had the sports suspension which is stiffer. All bends stopped when I switched to non RFT.

My current e90 came with the continental RFT and no sports package. They are a lot more compliant and I haven't had any bends so far. They have also fixed a lot of roads in the past couple years and yes, I have learned to dodge a lot more.
