Launch Control!!!!!!!

call me crazy but............I tired what you have to do in an SMG M3 in my 330xi (automatic) and it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!

1) turn both of the traction controls

2) hold the step tronic level in the down position with brake pressed

3) let go of the brake...if the car is standing still......its ready to go!
(dont go further if your car moves at this point....its not engaged)

4) press the gas down all the way till you hit the button

5) let go of the gear selector which was in 1st gear pushed into the shift down position

6)smile!!!!!!!!!:rocks:

oh yea make sure your wheels are perfectly straight or else it wont engage...

Isn't that the same as revving the engine in N and then kicking it into D or 1 or L....that's very very traumatic to the drivetrain Wouldn't you get the same result brake torquing your car in 1st gear? The launch control in the M3 sets an ideal level of revs to launch the car.

Definitely, something that is best reserved for rentals or loaners...if you really have to.

I brought my car in around 2pm yesterday for a quick fix of replacing my trim. (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...13&postcount=2) and they said it would actually be 2 hours so they squezed me in and I got a loaner. They said bring it back before 7pm but dont bring it back till we call you. They also mentioned they need this car for tomorrows appointments. Now, today no call yet and im still cruising in the loaner. What do I do just wait it out and see how long before they call?

ps I know they have my number.

The pedal furthest to the right does an incredible job of launching the car...

just stab the accellerator pedal quickly after releasing the brake pedal. no need to hold brake and press accellerator at the same time to get revs up.

it works for me.

F1 launch control dials up an optimum amount of revs as well as clutch engagement, makes it easier for the driver to gain a clean launch at start (i.e. not too much wheelspin, no stumbling etc).

Your prescribed method seems more focus on the launching part that is why others chimed in similarly after....

optimum revs is usually around where the max torque is...
