Supercharged V6 will be in the S5 in about a year. Its already in the S5 Cab.

My mom's a6 2.7t in 2004 needed two turbo replacements, one awd sensor, a transmission solenoid replaced and a million other things. With the "its only this car- I will trade up attitude" she went and traded it in for a 2006 Audi A8 L. This car always had the headlight distance control light go off, the whole dash backlighting stopped working at 5k miles, the rear window would not go down, the trim on the rear door kept popping up and broke when closing it once, one time the screen was shut in behind the wooden-trimmed door and we could not access a lot of the features on the MMI. After 40,000 miles- my mom called it quits with Audi. This should not happen with a 75,000.00 car. Growing up we had 7-series and they never had any of these issues I am not bashing Audi- but it is a car that has not done me, or my family well. Yes, BMW has their reliability issues and so does mercedes- hell even honda and kia do in some of their cars. However, many of my friends and family who have both bmw's and mercedes do not nearly have half the amount of problems mechanically, or quality-wise than Audi or VW. It is unfortunate, but it's the truth. In 2009, my Touareg 4.2 was in the dealer 11 times (and towed 3 times). In 2010, my 328xi was at the dealer one time.. for scheduled maintnence. In terms of looks, and quality- the new Audi's are just for different tastes IMO... BMW does have LED's but they are not in straight lines. They are in the same shape as their traditional design, which makes them appear a little updated but not obnoxious.
I've had 5 Audis and they were all extremely reliable. I had the in line 5, 2.7 turbo, V6 and V8 (b7 S4). Never got towed, never had a single major problem. My 335 however has been in about 6 times in its first year. Touregs were notoriously bad. i know a guy who sent 2 back!

It's all a matter of what you want. I drive longer distances to work every day, and often in rainy/snowy conditions. I don't have much open road (or the desire) to be punching the car in 3rd gear all that often. And, when I do, the S5 was plenty capable of passing in all situations. It's nearly as fast as the 335 in dry conditions, and is actually faster in the conditions I drive the car in because of the inclement weather.

Sure, the 335 'feels' faster, but so long as you're not a stop-light racer, I personally find that the S5 is a more comfortable, aesthetically pleasing car for my personal use/tastes.

s5 vs 335xi

My friend has the s5 and i have the 335xi. I love my car but love the look of the s5. Everytime we race I woop his ass. Off the line he takes a small lead and then I catch and pass him. Beside all that the S5 interior and out side look are supirior in all aspects. I love the dash and the interior style. If you want to win a race the 335 is tops if you want to have a great solid and modertly fast car get the s5. If I had to choose again I would get the audi! but i still love my 335xi

Yea,the front fender curve is what kills it for me too. That type of curve belongs on a two seater sports car. For such square front grilles, the fenders are way too curvy. Hard angles would have been more modern and at home on this design. I have to say the s5 front has much more presence than any 3 including the m3 but the e92 has it beat everywhere else.

I was thinking about this yesterday. I much prefer the smooth lines of the S5 over the e92. I much prefer the non m e92 over the M version as well. That bump on the hood is out of place and not needed. It's not subtle or visually appealing to me at all.

Of course from a drivers perspective I'd rather be in the 335 over the s5. If I bought an m3 I'd have to replace the hood. Can't stand seeing it from inside the car.

If you are talking straight line you might be right but not a chance on a race track. Did you see that video from Fifth gear? That was 335 with sport suspension. Your xi doesnt have that and its about 300 lbs heavier than the 335 in the film. My biggest complaint is the overly intrusive traction control. You can hammer the S5 everywhere and it doesnt skip a beat. This 335 is brutal. Every time I go to merge into traffic quickly the traction control shuts everything off. If I disable it I get wheelspin and the car wants to rotate. I came from B7 S4 and wish I had gotten the S5. BMW gave me $7,000 off msrp......too hard to pass up. Thats just my opinion. Everyone has one.

Gotta agree w the traction thing. Yielding left turns are downright dangerous if you're trying to slip thru traffic. If you break traction in a 335, your car cuts out so abruptly and the boost drops immediately. You're then left with no boost built up and fast traffic coming at you. And on the flip side, driving w traction off is not the smartest thing even if you can control it and above and beyond that, causing wheel slippage in busy city traffic is super douchey.

I think they are both decent looking cars.

To 99% of the population the M3 is indistiguihable from a 328 or a 335.

Subjective matter. S5 looks billion times better(in AND out) than any E9Xs to me.
Try to compare RS5 vs M3, instead of S5 vs M3.

S5 is okay - if you don't like BMW - move along.

From the feel of the steering wheel itself to the feel delivered through the column, it does not deliver a compelling experience. Again, those are just my opinions and I am not trying to slam the Audi because they deserve a lot of credit for fielding an absolutely gorgeous fleet of designs across their lineup.
+1
I like the aesthetics of the Audi but not the "experience" I really didn't want a VW. I'll keep my sleepy brand.

lol i'll never understand that argument. yeah, it's an expensive vw.. it's also a cheap lambo. The interior shares a more in common with the gallardo than a jetta

The Jetta and the Lambo look more alike to me. Pretty subjective. A thing called an R8? Never heard of it. You're not happy with your 335?

Totally agree with everything you guys have said. My sister loves the S5 and wants one for graduation. We took it for a test drive and were both underwhelmed. It's beautiful, but to drive its really rather boring and soft. I think she should get a 335 or the new S4 if she really wants an Audi.

I LOVE my car. Don't get me wrong. There's nothing that I enjoy more than driving my 335 around, especially when it's a nice day or i'm on track and I can really push it. But I definitely don't think it's nicer than an S5. I love the S5. It just feels like a nicer car. I've never driven an A5. Maybe that would ruin it for me. But there's something about that alcantara, those recaros, that B&O sound system, and the sound of that motor, the way it's just so planted at higher speeds, the way it feels like a more substantial car... that just makes you feel like you're in something a lot more special than the 335.

If I had to choose one, i'd pick my 335 without question. I wouldn't in stock form, and I wouldn't if I were older (I'm thinking 35 will be my mod-obsession cutoff point). But whether or not i'm a huge fan of the 335 (I am! my e90post join date and mod list speak to that. I'm never selling my 335.), I can't say that the S5 isn't the nicer car.
