eBay black grill review.

Didn't want to pay over 100 for a black grill so I ordered the matte black grill off of eBay for 55 shipped. It fit absolutely perfect, but I didn't like the matte finish on a JB coupe so I clear coated it. Looks exactly like the gloss black ones do. Anyhow, here it is. And I surely recommend it to anyone.

Yeah the clear coat made a world of difference. And you don't need to be an expert painter to do it which is the best part. I did about 3-4 coats.

I've used Plasti-dip on my grills and it came out quite well--if you prefer the matte look of course. It's been about a year and a half now and it's just now starting to flake off--but that's not due to the product. It's one-hundred percent due to me being lazy and taking my car through a car wash multiple times since I've applied it.

Is it worth the $5 and 45 minutes to an hour of your time (if you really want a nice finish and multiple coats), absolutely. However if you want something that's more of an "install and forget"/last for the cars life, you'll want to look elsewhere.

For what it's worth, my rear 335i Emblem is Plasti-dipped (did it the same time I did my grills) and it still looks fantastic!

Did you sanded the grills before you painted ? Maybe I can use plastidipp and after that some high gloss paint ?

The cost in materials and time to do it properly so it doesn't chip makes this pointless. Spend a couple bucks more and buy a gloss black one from eBay. They're the same ones the vendors sell.

No, just cleaned it with rubbing alcohol to remove impurities. I know that you can add a clear-coat to Plasti-dip, but I cannot speak from experience. This process is meant to be cheap and effortless. Doing anything more than that means you'd be better off just getting gloss-grills in the first place.
