Warranty options on a 2011 335i from a wholesaler
So, I am about to pull the trigger on a 2011 335i with 27k miles. It is still under factory warranty. With that said, the wholesaler selling this car is offering a 3rd-party warranty with the car for not much $. Would taking the car to the BMW dealer and getting it certified with a factory extended warranty make more sense? What kind of price am I looking at for the latter? Assuming it is still under factory warranty, I assume that BMW will sell me the 7/100k plan. Is that true? Seems like a lot of 3rd-party plans suck. At least with BMW, they will more than likely pay out.
Second, do I have to have clean tires as a part of the warranty inspection? If so, is there a specific tire I need? I really don't want to buy another set of those stock run-flats just to pass a stupid test. I haven't yet sold my Conti's that came with my last car: maybe I can throw those on the 17's for the inspection? Or, will my General G-max (non RFT) be OK? They have plenty of tread. |

Warranty inspection? The BMW dealer I got the BMW factory extended warranty from did it over the phone and was hundreds of miles away, all they wanted was my credit card # and VIN. A large envelope from BMWNA came a couple weeks later.

Briefly I was looking at a 2011 335i E90 with 18k miles at the BMW dealer where I bought my 10 335i CPO. The 11 was NOT CPO and was only $1k more than my 10 but the dealer wanted $31x to give the 11 a 7/100k year "gold" warranty.
