Yes its built on the C class platform.. its cheaper than a E class saloon whereas with most manufacturers the coupe in the range is more expensive. A lot of mercedes punters thought they were cost cutting on the model.
And i would say its comparable with an e92 price wise. |

I really like these, very very nice. That's looks like the right spec too, As someone else suggested try an Audi A5 3.0tdi Sline.
At the risk of being controversial I don't think the 3 coupe looks the money being asked when you go over £30k. I know 3 ser is the better drive, but I think both the Merc and the Audi look in a different class. |

Audi and Merc do two of the same utterly stupid things:
Daytime running chav lights Chrome wing mirrors. Daft. |

What I hate about the Audi's is how the LED go dark on the side the indicator comes on. LOOKS WANK.

Westy - I know and we'll all have wing mirrors the size of barn doors too. Dammit.
Can they not be fitted in a less chavvy/cheapo Christmas tree way? They even look cack on Porsches. Maybe LED headlight technology will somehow render DRLs obselete? I hope so. |

Now you've said it Matt, I'm sure the manufacturers will listen and get rid of them.
They don't have to be on at the mo and besides I like them, even though I don't drive with DRL's on. So 'cos I like them, that's good enough imo. As for the Merc, the actual point of the thread.........I think they look both modern and classy. And as always OP go for a good long test drive and go with how you feel. |

They are getting more and more Yankified IMO - and the diesel engines are lagging behind.

guess it would be slower than a 335....with less bhp... and won't handle as good as... if its a Merc...it has to be AMG...if you're after performance... if its an Audi, it has to be in the S range if not RS... |

Agreed, generally the E Class coupes are not in the same performance league as their equivalently priced E92's. The E350 CDI takes 6.7 secs to 62mph, well behind a 330d auto, the E350 CGI is 6.3, just a little behind a 330i auto. To get faster than a 335i, you would have to go for the E 500 which takes 5.2 compared to 335i at 5.4 secs.
And then you are looking at a car that costs upwards of £51K and has quite a thirst for petrol. Having said that, the V8 5.4 litre N/A Merc engine is an absolute beauty - tried it a couple of weekends ago (but in an SL 500). With 387 hp and 530Nm of torque you are getting the best of both worlds, rather like BMW combining M3 power with the torque of a 3 litre diesel. Then I suppose you more or less can already do that in your E92 by popping round to DMS or Evolve with your 335i or 335d, and you'll have the same or better than E 500 performance with a sub £40K budget. |

Hi, new to forum today: Was very close to buying an E-Class coupe or convertible but realised that the average owners age group is 100 years old - its just too much. Seems even worse with this model than other Mercs.
Thinking about a 330d M-Sport touring now - I know its very different! Barry |

I am an E Class coupe fan - Sport spec. Check out the Mercedes new car finance offers before you buy a nearly new car, the brand spanker may come in cheaper if you are buying on a finance package. I love the red leather interiors, the satnav is top and it feels quality to ride.

I like DRL's
I drive a silver car and i know in 'sunny' glasgow the lights do help you being spotted. Stupid as it sounds! I don't think you can compare the Merc with the BMW. They are for 2 different purposes. If i wanted to enjoy the drive for me alone. BMW If i wanted to have passengers and make sure they were comfortable too - Merc. My dad hates my E91 335D as it's hard to get in and out of (he's 69) and uncomfortable for him. He drives a 6 year old E class and yeh it's rubbish on an A road, but it's so smooth and effortless. I know in about 15 years time when my back is shot, i'll be piling in one! |

But not in the E Class coupe! Back seats have less headroom and leg space than my E92 - very disappointing. I think the W212 saloon is a far better package, and that's probably where I'll be heading in a few years time.
