Went to the dealer again today talked to another forman that knew what was going on.. I order the bluetooth atenna for 35.00 but I need the cable that attachs the attena to the MULF.. There isn't enough room to plug it in directly.. Anyone know the name of the cable or the part number for it?

So I am being told now that my ULF alone will not work with out a TCU if I want bluetooth.
not sure where to go from here. I was told I either pick up a TCU to piggy back with the ULF or just get a combox. |

The MULF is definitely sufficient for BT and USB. The TCU will also do them, with support for BMW Apps, though is much more expensive. The combox is the mac daddy (USB audio, A2DP BT streaming), but only available for iDrive. Who's telling you the MULF won't cut it? they're most likely either mistaken or lying to you for money, or else getting a more specific reason they believe that would be helpful. Anyway, I definitely got hung up on coding the car with 2URAD and 2MULF, so they could be just stuck and looking for an answer, but if that's the case, there are other discussions where solutions have been worked out (look through my post history, there are a couple of threads). |

What's the year and equipment? If that's actually true, which seems unbelievably suspect, an aftermarket unit will be MUCH cheaper (denison gateway or mobridge spring to mind)

They too said they should just be able to change the VO and it would be an hour of labor.. Then again they said I have to leave my car over night for the car to sleep and that autologic deals with sending stuff to england or something. I know people on here don't let their car sleep before using NCS expert soo I DUNNO.. |

I am afraid this other shop that is going to mess with it might charge me even if they don't get it to work.. Or take 2 or 3 hours for a 30 min job. Ill prob have a meltdown and cancel the transaction if that happens tho |

if you have a macbook, you would always run vmware/parallels to do coding. |

Yeah I was thinking about doing vmware on my roommates mac but didn't want to add another layer of trouble shooting if I had any problems. Might try it anyway. |

Virgin poster-New to forums in general so please excuse any errors in protocol.
I have a 2011 328i that I would like to add bluetooth to. I looked up the VIN and found out the production date was 4-2011 ---Visible options are usb/audio --plugs in center console, Professional Radio and std phone button on steering wheel. I DO NOT see any boxes in trunk under carpet. ---From the options list: S655A Satellite Tuner S6FLA USB/Audio Interface S8SCA Telematics access request, country spec. I was quoted $475 + Shipping from Bimmernav, but I am hesitant after reading about the experiences on this board.. also Bimmernav would not provide a list of items I would be paying for and would not say if my vehicle is pre-wired for BT. ANY help is much appreciated! |

the other way is to buy a coding cable, setup a coding machine, read out the model number of the radio via software. but you might have problems even communicating with the radio since the software might not recognise this newer model. |

Thank you all for participating in this helpful thread. After reading through it I'm not 100% sure what my car needs to add factory BT. I believe I will need the BT Mic, Antenna and some coding to get the job done. My Product Date is 10-2010. I do not have idrive nor Assist on my 2011 328i. These are my specs:
S645A BMW US Radio S663A Radio BMW Professional S6VCA Control for Combox S6FLA USB/Audio interface S676A HiFi speaker system S693A Preparation BMW satellite radio Am I correct that i will just need the BT Antenna, Mic and some coding? Thanks, |

(You'll also probably need to run wire for the mic. And antenna.)

Well I'm going in circles here....I just contacted Tischer and they told me that I might already have the BT Mic and Antenna. How would I determine this? Does anyone know of anybody that will do the coding in the DC Metro area? I'm willing to drive a couple hours.

Search for the install guides for the mic and antenna for details on how to do those two things/what they should look like.
