there are number of posts that explained about difference between LSDs from my understanding, for dd street usage any will do the trick but if you wanna go hardcore, you can go little more hardcore than quaife or wavetrac...

The standard friction plates that come with the differential last the lifetime of the differential. The differential has a lifetime warranty.
From Autotech: "Autotech is very excited with the positive feedback they have already received from Wavetracs already out in the field for other applications, including a 740+ WHP drag car. Our testing has shown that the Wavetrac works as well as (or better than) a Quaife, and feels slightly more aggressive. The Wave Design Center Pack really does work, and provides traction to the wheel with grip, even if the other wheel is in the air. The Wavetrac is much quieter than a Quaife in situations where the Quaife is noisy, such as hard turns from a stop under power, and we expect the same results with winter driving. The warranty is lifetime, even when raced, and also transferable. In fact, we are so excited and confident about the new features that we are replacing the Quaifes in all of our cars with the Wavetrac units, since they should perform better in winter driving when one-wheel-on-ice is very common, and it's a (noisy) nuisance when the Quaife goes 'open' in that situation." If you don't like your LSD to go open, Wavetrac is your choice. |

~$2K (non welded ring gear). By far the most tuneable LSDs out there, from silky smooth street to wild drifter. To get the most of of them, you'll want a very good shop to set it up (and if you're a perfectionist, be willing to fine tune it to your needs).
http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_artic...ferential.aspx edit: OP since you're in Portland, you might try giving HPF a call if that's the route you want to take. They use the OS Giken on their stage 4 M3s... |

I went with the Quaife and still enjoying after 9 months, it really changed the feel of the car for the better with the much improved traction.

I'd be interested in who they (HPF) recommend too (if you wouldn't mind posting)
