Does anyone here have a DP and if so, what you do for emissions? do they actually test the exhaust or just look for engine codes?

Also, which local dealers are the most mod friendly? e.g. oil changes etc.

They check for OBD readiness status and they're supposed to do a visual check.

Not really. In a nutshell, you'll need to have some sort of O2 simulator (BMS DP Fix, Procede O2 Modifier, etc.) to pass the OBD portion. The visual... you're on your own. I doubt the typical emissions place will put your car up on a lift and look for cats.

Disclaimer: Tampering with and/or removing emission control devices is bad. My statements are purely hypothetical.

I put AR catless on about a year ago, so only one emissions test so far and no problem. They plug in and look for codes so as Nivedh mentioned you will need a DP fix of some sort....I'm using the BMS version.
As for shops in the burbs on the northside of town, I use TopSpeed in Alpharetta and have been happy with their prices and workmanship. There is also a shop in Woodstock called Autobahn that seems to do good, but I've never used them....I think someone on here has though.

Best BMW mechanic in Atlanta?

My warranty just expired and I'm looking for the best local shop in Atlanta to maintain my 335i. I'd also appreciate opinions on who the best body shop for mods might be. I live in Sandy Springs. Any suggestions?

DIY everything you can - that's my philosophy. What kind of mods are you looking to do?

Great comments, thx. I have a Procede v2.5 so I assume this would be the same 'fix'. I have cats currently however.

Make sure the harness hasn't been "updated" - if so, you'll need to reverse it. The "updated" harness gets rid of the O2 Modifier feature.

Hmmm....I sent them the unit that I purchased used as they had to unlock it for 2nd use on my VIN plus change the harness from A to B. (I have a late model 2011).

I will ask about your quote.

So far, I've just done a few - Aero front lip, dual arm rest, painted reflectors. And I bought a Flex and completed a two-day detail (turned out pretty well). I want to get M3 rep sideskirts, quad tips and maybe rims and wider tires. Also, might get an MTec rear bumper and quad diffuser. Motorwise, I may do a tune, but need reliability over everything. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a plan. I'm going to discuss it at our meet this Sunday.

Speaking of, if you haven't checked the blog or are not on the distribution list we plan to meet this Sunday at the Varsity at 3:30PM and will then ride over to Dantana's for a 5PM Meet. Go to the blog below for full details.

Evening gents, thought I would say hi..

Just moved to Atl a couple of months ago and have picked up a e92 335i mt as a bit of a toy!

Not planning on modding it that much but I always say that and it never stays true. The lux angel eyes are already on order and soon as I sort the carbon buildup I may feel a jb4 coming on. ahem...

Anyway generally up for a chat with fellow enthusiasts! I will try make the meet on Sunday afternoon (3.30pm varsity is my understanding!)

What's up guys?

Just wanted to chime in and say cheers.. I'm from Macon and I just purchased my E90 a few days ago.... Within one day I had new rims and a detail done and was about to do a few more upgrades, but ran into a problem! I had a few lights come up on my dash and took it to the dealership and they quoted $1100.00 repair. The steering angle sensor is bad and they said it needed to be replaced. Anyone heard of this? Well, I guess the mods will have to wait b/c I can't stand having lights on the dash...

Later,
Chris Weeks

any shop recommendations for northern fulton, southern forsyth...for a DP install. I am not certain it really needs to be a BMW Indy shop if someone knows of a good mechanic. Pretty simple stuff.
