Hi,

Just got an oil change and the guy (not bmw tech) told me he did put a little bit of extra oil to get it to the max level.
Now my sensor is right up to the max (idrive and dash), but it says 'oil level ok' and it's green.

Normally when BMW dealer does it, it's right in the middle between min and max...should I worry and get it drained a little bit or not ?

And, i already drove 500km with this reading, as I had no choice since i'm on a one week roadtrip at the moment...

Thanks

You should be Max after an oil change. Never heard why BMW dealer would be between min and max.

But ask your mechanic, how much or what quantity did he put it?

Should be 6.5 liters to Max.

It's roughly 7 quarts give or take. I always pour 7 full bottles when doing the oil change; this leaves me at max. When I get it done at the dealer it is also always at max.

BTW 6.5 liters is exactly right. That brings you to 6.86 quarts, which is why everyone just pours the full 7 in.

What I would do is to ask him to do another oil change for FREE for not following the right procedure and right oil measurements. Where in the world made him think our cars take 7.5 quartz in the first place??
