How to get gas smell out of rubber liner?
So I have that rubber trunk liner for my E90, and I had a gas saw in there that leaked a little bit onto the rubber liner. (That's why I put it there, to protect the carpet!)
Now, the rubber liner smells like gas. I've washed it with detergent and put it outside, but the smell is still there. Any ideas? I was going to post this in the car washing section but I figure more people read here and may have an idea. |

Just let it air dry for a few days. If it still looks "greasy" throw some baking soda down on it then wash it off.

Leave it out in direct exposure to the sun for a few days and sprinkle it with baking soda. You will not be able to get all the smell off, but it will be minimized.

Try scrubbing it with green apple scented Palmolive dish soap and let it sit soapy in a shallow pan for a few days. Use a lot of soap. For some reason this scent eliminates all odors and works really well at getting gasoline and automotive grease off hands.
