Yes that is the MULF, but check the label to see if it is the high version.

Is a MULF anything like a MILF? If so, I'd like to get one installed in my vehicle.

So I finally found some time to do it and the result is that I´m lost. The car just has 1 box in the trunk (no TCU) and it reads MULF2. Will that one work for 6FL retrofit?

Many thanks.

Come on, dude... you got photos, you got the OEM retrofit document with drawings and list of parts, you got explanations.

What else do you really need? This is becoming absurd...

The question is MULF2 works or do I need MULF-HI? Thats what got me confused since everyone talks about MULF-HI but no one about MULF2

It is the same thing and if you copy the P/N in that box of yours and take it to your dealer's parts department they will tell you that it is the part that you need for your 6FL retrofit and not included in the kit, as stated -again and again- in the OEM document.

Definitely struck lucky there.

Please post the P/N of that cable 'A' for others to see if you go ahead with the retrofit.

Thanks Technic! And sorry for being a pain but delears in Mexico like to rip clients off plus they keep telling me there is no such thing as 6FL retrofit ...

If you can fit the parts yourself you just need to take your car in to have the CCC coded.
Since you are not supposed to be able to do this in US cars do you ever have trouble with warranty work? Or would it just void the radio/nav warranty?

Not had a problem at my dealership. I've had my car in there a few times over the last few months as my 50k is fast approaching and they haven't questioned it.

They did tell me that the fan on my CCC was generating an error code. That was the only comment they made about any of my retrofitted items.

The MULF which is installed in your car is just for the bluetooth hands free (SA644).

For a USB retrofit (SA6FL) you need a MULF High. It looks like this:

Different to the MULF currently installed in your car the big jack is blue (red rectangle) instead of white.

Further there is an additional jack at the other side of the MULF (red circle). This is for the connection between MULF and USB hub.

*** check the label ***

NOTE - There is no guarantee that you have anything under the TCU
Just as a data point:

2011 e90 M3
Has Navi and Assist but no 6FL.

Looked in the trunk and I do NOT have a MULF-HI underneath my TCU. This made me sad as it will make a 6FL retrofit much more complex. Oh well, it's off to export music to the CIC directly.

you dont need to export your music, just run a 8gb or 4gb DVDR or DVDRW and play it as a data CD, folders, artist, song titles work.
