2007 335i DVD HELP

I recently just bought a BMW 335i with idrive, and its a 2007, I popped in a dvd movie in and didn't see any images come on or even the DVD recognizing it. What seems to be the problem?

Your DVD drive can't play movies, so don't waste time trying to force it
