Hey people, i know its an old subject and im pretty sure but still would like to ask people who is very knowledgeable about this, especially that there wasn't any REAR WIDTH question in the last couple of years...

WHAT IS exactly is different where LCI gain +8mm/side in the rear track?

Is it safe to say that All E92's/E93's and PRE LCI E90s have the same rear spindle?

I own LCI E90 and I have 10" Et38 wide rear wheels with 265/30 tires, im thinking to go with 285/30 tires as my next set up that is why im trying to figure out exactly what i need to convert to PRE-LCI...

I've been confused about this too, because RealOEM lists the same spindle numbers for LCI or Pre-LCI...

THANKS for a good catch! But, againt it looks like its only relevant for Lci/PreLci E90
All the other ones (91, 92, 93) are the same for Lci/Pre Lci!

From Apex's fitment page:

LCI sedans and wagons (2009 and up) have different fitment requirements for the rear wheels. Rear fender clearance is reduced by 8mm due to a wider rear track width. See notes in red for information regarding these cars. This does NOT apply to LCI coupe (E92) and convertible (E93) models.

Guys, got my hands on a set of spindles with axles for a good deal (to do a PRE Lci conversion) and cant find this part number anywhere, maybe someone can help with search of it?
Part number is: 6757737-12 and for the other side is 6757738-12





EDIT: This^ number is provided by me in the first post of this thread now! Yes this^ number looks to be an upgraded spindle from original Realoem number 6757735 and 6757736

I have driven a E91 pre lci with nice oem 359 M3 wheels 10J rear roller fenders etc

I have know. E91 lci. Rolled my fenders tot maximum but still some rubbing with these wheels and 4 people in it.
I also want to change something on the hubs to fit the wheels but don't know exactly what parts I neef...

So is it the hub or the knuckle? I have a e90 lci and need to change out the rear knuckle. Found one from a local guy but he doesn’t know if it’s lci or pre lci. I don’t want to be uneven

I thought it was the hub that was longer? That would be the simplest way of achieving the effect otherwise they would have to create a new casting for the different knuckle.

Hi Guys,
I`ve visited this site several times to find a solution for my e9x LCI.
I have OEM styling 359 ZCP Competition wheels with 10J ET 25 in the rear.
On my previous car E91 Pre LCI I had these wheels fitted with rolled fenders lowered on KW.
This setup did not have any rubbing.









I have driven this car for 7 years and after these years I`ve switched to a E91 LCI 2011. I kept my wheels. Ready to mount them on the LCI because it has also M package.

Most of you know that the LCI has 8 mm less space on the rear. I knew It would be tight but lets go!

At first started with rolling my fenders and installed the wheels.
The rear wheel was mounted with a 255-30-19 Continental tire. This one has a little stretch. I don’t like that anymore but with that setup it still has slight rubbing.
I got well irritated by rubbing so what can I do???

I was going to search on RealOEM to find a solution. I found out that everything between my old e91 320D and my new e91 320D is the same when we talk about : trailing arm, wishbones, control arms, rear axle.
The only thing different is the wheel carrier and the Drive Flange Hub
E91 320D LCI

On Further comparison I found out that the rear disk sizes are the same but the part numbers a little bit different.
I thought maybe I have to find the wheel carries and hub in total from the junk yard and see where It gets me. I found them on the local junk yard.

When I went over there the guy on the desk told me. We don`t have them anymore. I`m sorry.

I told him what I want and he was searching his computer and told me. Well the numbers where you are looking for are also from the e87 120D vehicle.

I did not found that bus I asked him. Do you have a wheel carrier e91 320D LCI (same as on my car ) And a e87 LCI 11-2007 120D wheel carrier for me and can I borrow your caliper (very big junk yard)..
Measuring these items I found out that in total the wheel carrier including the hub is 8 mm narrower than the e91 LCI. While the distance between the flange to the mounting point of the brake caliper is identical.

I was starting to feel happy… will this be my solution?

So I took the wheel carrier including hub from the e87 LCI 11/2007 to my home.
I did not had a serial number of the E87 but in real oem I found a original number.

Nice one in this case was that I also found that the rear brake disk has an identical number as my e91 LCI. This would mean that I can put over my hand brake pads and brake disk.
Today the items are installed and thank god. It fits all nicely and most important I`ve created 8 mm more clearance …..

I need to put some tires on my wheels before I can try but I`m hoping it will work. With a 255-30-19 continental tire I will work now I`m sure but I want to fit a 265-30-19 tire so I have less stress.
Numbers of the e97 LCI hub 11/2007 that will give 8 mm more clearance on a e91 LCI.

So when you want to get more clearance in your E91 LCI? Go for e87 wheel carriers!!

#1 How did you measure the spindles/carriers on the floor, they are fairly large items and its is EXTREMELY difficult to "catch" that one is different than the other for only 6mm???

#2 How can you measure the same thing as above on the car?

#3 & #4 Instead of doing this crazy conversion with spindles you could of just do a conversion to wheel studs/nuts (instead of the bolts) and use 5/7/8/10mm spacers to do fine tune that wont rub! Especially knowing that spacers that goes WITHOUT Bmw extended bolts are very inexpensive!?

See, if you read my original question and my signature, im running 19x10j+38 and now on 275/30 rear tires, now thinking to go with 285/30! I have a tuned RWD 335D and NEED that width in the rear, also im NOT running any spacers now and DO NOT want to roll fenders = only in this^ scenario im trying to chase this 8mm per side depth for the rear track width.

Yes, after doing my research i found out that all the control arms and axles are identical, the only thing is different is HUB and SPINDLE! I also found out that Diesels have different part number for the rear subframe, but i am currently running gas 335 rear sub frame without issues so im not sure what is different there!

I have LOTS of spindles on hands currently and will be posting update to this thread sometime soon!

So I did the swap recently for my 2009 E90 335i LCI, from a 2007 E90. I snapped some pics of the hubs and knuckles/spindles/carrier. Both the cast iron carrier AND the actual hub are of different sizes and offsets, so if you want to do this swap, you need BOTH of them. Also things I observed:

-the dust shield is exactly the same.
-the e-brake hardware is all the same.
-wheel bearings are the same.

Here is before and after on the same rear wheel/tire

This wheel was 18x10et25 265/35 continental dws06. Lowered on eibach/koni yellows. I did gain a lot more clearance, but ultimately still rubbed, so had to swap rear wheels to et33, which fit perfectly (no rolling). With et33 I probably could get away with 275s, but playing it safe for now. This was a pain in the ass, but I'm digging the fitment!

note, if you are doing wheel bearings at the same time (recommended), and you have magnetic wheel bearings, highly recommend buying magnetic film on amazon to test the pickup pattern, one of mine was destroyed by a magnetic tool sitting on my workbench. This caused an ABS light on the dash, and I had to remove the OEM bearing all over again and replace it.

Hi, sorry to bring up an old thread but it's got some great information. I'd like to do this prelci wheel carrier swap on my 2009 335i 6mt e90 with the goal to fit 219m wheels.

Based off of realoem part numbers it seems that the prelci wheel carriers are the same for N52 or N54 cars which is great since N52 cars are abundant at junkyards.

My question is can I also use the hubs/bearings from the N52 cars? Realoem seems to list the same part number of the hub for the N52 and N54 cars but that doesn't make sense since I thought the N54 had thicker axle splines where the axle comes into the hub?

Would love to hear from anyone who's done this before. Thanks in advance!
