Standard shocks on m-sport springs

Hi All. My father in law has a 320i E90 M-sport. His front left strut is blown. Currently having challenges sourcing the exact Bilstein B4 / Sachs replacement for m-sport springs. Would like to know if there are any concerns using the standard struts/shocks on m-sport springs (since these seem to be more readily available)?

Thanks.

Confusing question, since the B4 is essential a direct replacement for stock. I have used B4 on several of my m-sport e9x's. The part numbers I used just last year are, for the FL - 22-135032, the FR - 22-135049, and the Rear - 19-303581, all for a 2011 e90 m-sport 335i. Unfortunately, these Bilstein part numbers can change at least once per year. Here in the states FCP has been a great help to me. Not certain who can help you down under.

there are 2 versions of the B4 shocks. one for OEM ride Height, 1 for lowered (M-sport) ride height. the shock body differ in length.

insanesam while it's not the best match it won't probably hurt in short term. but i suspect the shock won't last as long as the proper shock.

one more thing (i had this on my e85 Z4). is that the shock was too long for the spring so the spring was loose when jacked up. in Europe this was an MOT failure so i had to mount thicker spring pads to compensate.

i don't say this happends on the e90 but it is possible

Exactly this. I can only get the B4 for the standard ride height. Since my father in law doesn't care and wants his car fixed, was wondering if the standard length B4 would work since I can get these right now

This is the thread I didn't know I needed. I'll probably run into the same problem. I have M-sport suspension and one blown front shock. Considering a full refresh and B14 pro kit but... $$$.
