oh noes...my Idrive is dead

first of all car was running strong...everything is fine. The other day i hardwired a radar and on friday (2 days later) i started the car in the morning..get the BMW screen on te idrive and then pitch dark..and random white screens every couple minutes which i assume it was a reset cycle....

I left the car, started it 5 minutes after and idrive was working fine and good. I left town and left the car with my aunt..and she called me today (5 days later) saying that the idrive was doing the exact same thing that happened to me and after a couple minutes of leaving the car off and restarting it the idrive came back to normal..the only difference between when she was driving the car i took the radar with me for a trip

Now, with 2 times in 6 days..what could it be??? hardware?? software?? i live in vegas and it gets pretty damn warm....I did some reading and some people say its hardware and can be really expensive others say that it happened a couple times but then never happened again

anyone experienced this?? btw i have no warranty.. If its something that will make the Idrive die i rather trade it or something before it happens with me as the owner.

Please any advice will be appreciated

hmm

This happened to me when I first got my 335. The dealer replaced the stereo unit and some command module, they had the car for a week or so.

Hope that helps,

This isn't something common so that's why you're not getting answers. What did you do when you hardwired your radar? Make sure all connections are tight. Maybe you left something loose and the vehicles movement causes shorts. That's all I can input. Good luck.

I was on my way home from North Carolina and my I drive did the same thing after I had been driving for about a half hour. The rest of the day it would be white or black screen but navi still directed me and everything I just used voice control. The next day I started the car and everything was fine and its been about a month since the issue
