HKS SSQV BOV lost sound today - Confused with questions!
Ok so after about a year of working just fine, my HKS SSQV bov lost the chirp sound. The odd part is that I still make boost and the car is putting down power fine(figured a vaccuum leak). I looked around on the net and found some guys on the supra forums saying it is due to the bov being dirty/clogged/rusty and that it needs to be removed and cleaned out.
What do you think is happening hear? Car still boosts, and instead of a chirp/bov squeak I get a flutter(compressor surge?). I am not driving in boost until I can figure this out but I'd love to hear if anyone has dealt with this problem before and fixed it. Thanks .

I'm not sure about that specific model, but most of the time, you can remove the BOV and manually open and close it to check for obstructions. You can also get a loaner vacuum tool from most auto part stores and connect that to the vacuum port on the BOV to check for modulation of the diaphragm... A BOV stuck in the closed position would create compressor surge and fueling issues when lifting off the throttle, it shouldn't have an impact on the building of boost... It could be as simple as a leaky hose (as you said)
