Why would you tape a bogus temp registration…? You get one when you buy a new car….

And if you're changing cars every 2 years, your car looks new enough to run a dealer plate without any hassle. You'll only be cited if you're pulled over for a different offense (like speeding) and they see you haven't put your plates on. Most cops can't tell the difference between a current year model and a previous year model anyways (plus, you could have gotten your car used from the dealer as a CPO and hence why you still don't have your plates).

It's bogus in that it's expired, and that would become obvious once they run your registration.

I agree it's unlikely they'd cite you for it as a primary offense, but if you get pulled over or receive a parking ticket for something else, it might be something they conveniently tack on.

25 bucks? That's awesome! In Texas, the fine is now right around $200 neighborhood. Serious pain on that one. But I still don't have one!! WHEN I do get that ticket, I can't complain, I know I'm breaking the law. Honestly, I will moan about it to my wife, and I will be pissed about it, but more about the idiocy of the law. I understand the OP's frustration, but that's the price we pay for breakin the law!

Is that a real police summons or a rent a cop summons?

I wouldn't pay it, it's not going to ever accumulate enough charges on it that they would tow your car, plus on a temp registration it is even less likely.

LMAO.

He broke a so called "rule" set by a bunch of people that made up the "rule" not voted by the people. Correct me if I am wrong but in 1970 in California nobody gave a shit about this so called "rule". Police have told us that they target folks under 30 years of age. This is also known.

AND, this fee is used to generate income for the state. This is known and not breaking of any law that puts people in harms way, murder, rape, larceny, GTA, etc..

I got the same thing in West Hollywood (though I had an actual CA plate on the back). I made a temporary plate holder that screws into the tow hook mount and went to the DMV so they could approve it - it was over with pretty quick. I recommend doing something similar, or just let me know if you want to borrow this - im local in socal:

It's the same as having dark tints on your car. It's a gamble and you lost. Pay it or fix it. You don't really have a choice.

In CA, it's a violation if you don't have a front plate. What most people don't understand is WHY it's the law so here's why.

CA is populated with an extraordinary number of people that possess psychic abilities. Work with me here. Because of that talent, the majority of people can see an approaching vehicle and know ahead of time that vehicle will be involved in a hit-and-run incident. As such vehicles in CA really NEED that front plate.

In states populated by those without the afore-mentioned psychic abilities, you need front AND rear plates to increase the chance law enforcement can get the bad guy.

Suppose tomorrow we all started having to carry onions in our trunk, just because the man said so. Is that ok too? Someone will get the reference.

Honestly with OP on this one. Stupid ticket and well within reason to complain about such utter BS.

LOL...at all the follow the law gang...you guys act so holier than though.

The ticket is BS...plain and simple. Who cares about the law...shouldn't exist. I never run a plate.

Meh, no ones following the man. And I'm not saying the law is cool, I'm saying if u choose not to follow, deal with the consequences instead of wimping out at the last second.

U choose to diasagree with the law fine, but when u get a ticket don't act like you're the savior of the world getting unlawfully imprisoned

Dude, I don't think anyone agrees with the law. But if you get caught, it is what it is...

I agree the law sucks. But you committed a violation as it is written.

I recently drove to Chicago from Cleveland. Most of the way the speed limit was 70. I remember when it was only 55.

I averaged 77mph all the way there and asked my GF if she ever felt unsafe at 80-85mph. She laughed and said no.

I've totally disagreed with some speed limits my entire life, but when I got tickets I COMPLAINED I GOT CAUGHT, not the law.

Own your decision and deal with it. I can understand your frustration that IT IS total BS, but that's the law. Sorry.

I am not sure your age, but some generations have an issue with adverse ownership. You'll take all the credit, but deflect all the blame. Grow up son!

I didn't know you guys suck up so much to the government...I'm not giving $.01 more than I have to the state of CA.
If you mentioned that the first then most would have sided you. Or did you not even display that temp registration on rear windsheild?

Go to that county parking authority and show 'em you temp registration and they will null it.

Plate tickets are only equipment violations anyway. They involve a pretty trivial fine (around $100 even if you pay in full and refuse to take the fix-it route), and the fine does not escalate with repeat offenses. And as long as you pay the ticket, it does not adversely affect you insurance or show up on your record, or turn into misdemeanors/felonies/etc.

I don't know what more you can want. If you don't like a plate, don't run with one, and just pay the tickets.

Seems like a lot of hoopla for a petty parking ticket. I'd view it as paying for the privilege to drive without front plates.

At school, I'll sometimes park in faculty spots because I'm late for class and my parking garage is a 10 minute walk (compared to a 1 or 2 minute walk from the faculty lot). 99.9% of the time I'll come back to see a $35 parking fine but I have no problem with it! I fully know that I'm breaking the rules and I view it as paying $35 for the privilege of getting a close, faculty parking spot that day.

it's only $25 dollars. I've got those about 6 times in DC already.. and what's really annoying is that I had NJ plates.. anyways just solve that problem with plate relocated. Yea it's still ugly but you avoid getting tickets.
