procede disconnected during logging
i started to have this annoying event lately.
while logging, my UI suddenly say connection to procede lost and the UI hangs. this never happened before 2 weeks ago, and i've logged close to 100 logs. what's going on here? i don't think it's a loose usb connection on laptop, i wiggled it and it wouldn't disconnect. the disconnect is just random, sometimes when i'm just cruising. |

^you prov have a Rev 2 or 2.5, right? Its an issue with your serial to Usb cable. The ones from radio shack suck, I used one I found at Fry's that worked alright when I used to have a Rev 2

I used to get disconnects every now and then, and flatlined logging with my laptop due to a platter hard drive. Most laptops I've owned have some sort of hard drive protection where if the laptop senses jutter, it stops all computing, preventing the hard drive platters from torquing. A cheap SSD fixed that issue right up.

It shouldnt be the cable unless a solder is intermittent at the unit end. Robert did not read the thread.
Yes the UI hangs (and logs flatline) when my old hard drive was interrupted, but its never disconnected. It may not be your problem at all. |

i moved the procede folder to an SD card within the laptop, so all my log goes to a solid state device instead of the harddrive.
still lost connection and hang. i'm going to try a different usb port, if that still doesn't work, i might have to check the procede end of the cable. i hate taking off and on the cowling. i wish i can run without it lol. |

Anyways I just bought a new laptop using windows 7 and 64 bit, and also had issues with staying connected. I loaded 4 different versions of drivers for my prolific cable. Well after hours I finally found one driver that worked and Procede stayed connected. Here is the link
http://www.serialgear.com/USB-Serial...-mac-linux.cfm Might sound crazy but it might work for you...Uninstall the usb serial driver and upload this one... |

hm, your link isn't opening up.
it's worth mentioning that i used to be able to log for 15-30 minutes straight without interruption/flatline/disconnection. this is trully out of the blue. i wonder if i just need to reflash the procede. |

I have this exact same problem. Went from Rev 2 to 3 and can't get a useful datalog - ever. Never had a single issue with the Rev2 even with the serial to usb.
I can load maps, update firmware, reset the Procede, even drive around at low rpm all day just monitoring engine stats or even data logging. The instant I go WOT or accelerate hard, the UI hangs - generally somewhere around 3000-3500 rpm. I have tried 2 different models of Dell laptop with the same result. It's completely consistent and repeatable at will. If I had to guess I'd say that the USB port is getting scrambled somehow. A drop in voltage, spike, or ?? If you unplug the cable, restart the software you're back in business - as long as you don't go WOT. I have a hard time believing it's a driver issue when I can do everything EXCEPT datalog. Honestly, as few times as I've used the pseudo launch control or NLS, I really wish I would have just gone from 2-2.5 for $50. Despite the goofiness of a serial to USB converter, I never had a single issue with connecting, data logging, etc. |
