am I the only one who can't work this s**t out

I know from all the threads on the various forums that lots of people can code. I also know that lots of people have problems setting up and using the software. but I'm curious if I'm the only moron that can't get it 2 work. I've read all the threads printed reams of instructions and DY-I's watched videos , updated datens, cleared files, loaded newer versions, switched drivers, cursed, prayed and almost threw the laptop and the cable in the trash. Still no black dots in inpa and faulty vin in ncs. They say all you need is common sense and basic computer skills (thought i had both). I just don't get it. anyway enough of a rant, just curious if it's just me.

If you're not being shown the correct information don't forget your cable can be a factor in the failure. You can test your cable with this program, which does not require INPA to connect and check/clear codes. Watch the tutorial and see if it detects your DME.

Get INPA running with a fresh install first.... then you can deal with updating files afterwards.

You can use E90>Engine>MSV80 in INPA to check/clear codes on a lot of the newer DMEs. It doesn't verify the version of the DME before connecting. If INPA works then upgrade your files accordingly and try the coding again.

What color is your cable circuit board. If it has a blue circuit board it's the cable that's the issue and not your skills. Check cable circuit board color and get back to us. If its not green or white you got scammed by the company as this cable doesn't work!

Then your laptop is not configured correctly as the cable from Onestop is a good cable source.

I set the port, set the latency both one, changed the path. I think I'll try fresh with another laptop. honestly I'm usually good with this stuff, I'm a mechanic / tech by trade I work on multi million $ equipment, been working with can buses for years. somehow I've got my self all confused and turned around. I don't know if it's the German or if in my paranoia I read too many different threads while waiting for the cable to come back in stock

Garage List
2009 BMW 328i  [10.00]
Personally i couldnt find all the files i needed and didnt make it as far as you did before getting fustrated so for a small price i had a (former?) forum member remote into my pc and set me up with all his files plus walk me through the coding process. it was well worth it and now ive coded multiple things on my own.

make sure your not using a 64 bit OS

There's a thread on this forum that has the base install of INPA and even some of the updated files (For later). All you have to do in order to start over is remove the folders containing the BMW tools and then start the installer.

If bmwlogger connects to the dme. is it safe to assume it's not the cable or the driver. It definitely connected but I didn't find any codes the car is just back from the dealer. If he reset them would there still be codes.

Correct. If your codes were reset then there shouldn't be any unless you have an issue. If it shows you DME in green and listed your DME number next to it then it connected just fine so the cable shouldn't be the issue.

And here's the post to some of the tools, etc.

thanks I'm gonna start from scratch. I think I got messed up by reading to many different threads while I waited for the cable to be restocked. I load a version of this than one of that then updated something else in the end I could not even tell u what I did. Boredom kills

Yup. Last night actually. No different than the 2012 335i and 2008 M3.
