aftermarket sirius question

can an aftermarket unit be plugged into the aux input that comes standard in the e90's?

as long as u go mini jack to mini jack in it will work and plug it into the head phone jack in the aftermarket radio.

it will sound better than fm modulated but not as good as the direct audio in only because it is using the satelite radios little headphone preamp which is not something that you can change

Even this isn't an issue if your portable has a "line out" jack in addition to the headphone jack. This used to be common on portable CD players but I haven't checked out Sirius/XM portables.

Practically speaking, you probably won't notice any degradation due to the headphone amp unless you crank the volume on the portable way the hell up. Your Aux-In jack has much higher impedance than your average pair of headphones, so it won't be sinking nearly as much current.
