I think I'm just too stupid to explain why Battery EVs are the future ….

I think Elon Musk the man NASA trusts to deliver supplies to the International Space Station, and to build the launch platform for a planned mission to Mars along side Boeing (backed by $6 billion of US tax payers money), is a better candidate...

Here is Q&A session he did at the Detroit motor show earlier this year....Some poor journalist was brave enough to challenge him about hydrogen fuel cells (about 10minutes in)...You can almost see he is having to bite his tongue, and with every breath in his mind this is what he is thinking..

Il pass. I've owned a sub 10+ sec 0-60 car and everyday getting on the expressway was a mission and felt my life was in danger.passing cars was even more hard as I had to go full throttle just to go from 75-80mph.

A lot of the free charging points will soon disappear. Many parking operators who entice people in with their free charging points have started to charge people for their electric. So when you pay for your parking you will get a break down of how much your parking is and how much electric you have used and get charged accordingly.

This is true. I work in a high rise building that I started in 2wks before grand opening and at first it was free to the people who Park, now 2yrs later in order to use the charge station you have to be a monthly Parker and your monthly fee is higher than a standard gas vehicle

It only costs me maximum of £3 to charge the car at home in the day, and half that at night. Each charge gives about 80 miles of range - my current average is 4.5 miles per kWh of electricity, so per mile, I'm paying either 3.3p or 1.5p for electricity depending on when I charge.

I only use the 'free' public chargers when I'm out shopping or in town, when it's convenient. For example when I'm out shopping and paying for 4hr of parking anyways, why not charge up for free whilst I'm at it??

As another forum member has pointed out, all the FACTs about EVs is just a google search away.

If I had £80K to drop on a Tesla S P85D, I would buy one without any hesitation, but sadly I don't have that kind of disposable income.

I have however already picked the colour and spec of the 'base' Tesla S I'm going to order in 24 months time. It'll be in metallic blue, with ivory interior, so pretty much the same colour combination I had in my E90 335i, it's not cheap, but I've always been good at wasting £££ on cars ...If by 2017 BMW can deliver a product that can rival the Tesla I'll re-think which brand I'll give cash to, but as things stand, I personally have no interest in wasting another £ in anything with an ICE in it.

if you have the cash stick solar on your roof

8% return YoY and you can even charge a Tesla off it. You can set the car to 2kWh charge rate and use a 4kWh panel to feed it.

Ok so you have to be a home worker but its an interesting set up. However that free energy will only give you around 30-40 miles of range per day.

Still an interesting theory when you consider an 8% ROI on solar.

Public charging won't always be free thats right (unless you own a Tesla) but it will still be dirt cheap and even if you don't work 80-100 miles put back in at the weekend potentially (ps that obviously doesn't cover winter days fully).

I'm not an eco warrior hippy, just find it interesting. It actually makes money go further for little compromise.

+1, and I've yet to see a single bad review from anyone who has actually driven a Tesla for any length of time. Main complaints are not about the car, but the lack of public charging infustructure.

Have you ordered a Tesla? Despite the Leaf deal been so ridiculously cheap am really tempted to terminate the deal and just order the S70D
