There was one years ago on 419 eaters where a church minister was going to give a large sum to another African for going through the same kind of process and wind ups.

The African sent $80 release fee for the minister to get the money from the bank believing that the minister had no access to cash.

The minister then sent numerous emails thanking him for showing him a new life. He had got all the money from the bank and was now enjoying a life in a circus fuelled by sex, drugs and drink.

If anything it was a funny story, but after reading more it seems to a very similar story over and over.

From all the ones I've read they all follow the same process. They all seem a little too far fetched and blatantly obvious. Even when the scammer knows they have been scammed and insulted a million times, they all keep coming back thinking it will still happen.

They might be criminals, but the jokers really treat them like scum. A bit unpleasant, given they are, at the end of the day, human.

I think that the relentless way that these people sometimes target vulnerable people results in this kind of ott reaction.
Although most 419 frauds highlight people's stupidity and greed, there are elements of society who are genuinely deceived by this type of scam and end up losing more than their pride and maybe a bit of blood poisoning!
I have precisely 0 sympathy,I'm afraid.
