JB3 software version - how to confirm?

I have a july 08 production 335i so I ordered the JB3 that is software compatible with v81 DME. How do I tell before I install it that the software is correct for my DME version. Just want to make sure before installing.

from what i hear you can take your car to the closest bmw service center and ask them to run a ecu check on your car and theyll tell you exactly what program your running on.

If your car is July 08 production you can be 100% sure that you have post v81/29.2. Every 335 with a build date later than March 08 has a post v81/29.2 version.

+1 you definitely have V81 and 29.2 or later, so your JB3 should be 1.0v or 1.1v and is written on the bottom of the jb3 in black sharpie!

btw, even if you had the old V80 which you will absolutey will NOT have, the jb3 v version would work with the older v8o and pre 29.2 software.
