Reset FRM through coding

Hey guys,

I have a 2006 330i and my drivers side angel eye and and turn signal lights do not work. The code that comes up is that there is a short circuit in the FRM. From speaking around to a few people, they told me to try to reset the FRM.

My question is how do you do this? I was reading somewhere about using the expert profile to reset it. Is this correct?

I'm a noob at coding and I just started looking into doing this myself so bare with me.

Thanks!

thanks man, like i said i'm still a noob and this seems like an interesting project to take on haha. how long did this coding take you? i was thrown off by sending the command 64 times!

im def in the same boat as you tho. my angel eye has been out for a very long time as well, as well as my amber light on the headlight. it causes the annoying fast blinking, im so ready to get that over with.

It took me a long time to actually figure out that i needed to update to v41 Daten. but the actual coding, if you know exactly what you're doing, doesnt take more than 10 minutes. i had to search and search for this answer. i went into ************** and someone was able to answer me and lead me into the right direction.

if you have any questions hit me up via PM

Edit: the reason for sending the job 64 times is that we dont know what ID the circuit has, so we send the job to all of them. The job literally takes a blink of an eye. its a repetitive process, set 0, hit start job, stop job, change the number to 1, hit start, his stop, change the number to 2 and so on...

you dont even need to use NCS expert, this is done through toolset.exe

I have replaced one of the xenon ballast modules , I now have dipped beam working on driver side. Still dead on passenger side.

I did update FRM module , did the SG_RESET in WKPF.... or was it NCS Expert

If any faults in FRM , should they not be gone now ? I have a new ballast module on way for passenger side too.

And at the moment I dont get any reaction when I turn my high beams on , or flash.

What I need to do in order to be sure everything is working , and find out what is not working ?

Thanks

For the new ballast you need INPA or ista-p.

coding is needed for high beams to work , or you have to rewire a ground cable to solenoid. I did the rewire solution , working high beams now.

Sorry I mean winkfp iso inpa. Inpa is used for calibration.
Ista-p will do everything for you.

Yes. What stage are you at?

You need to:

1. Replace hardware which caused the short circuit. E.g faulty bulb etc etc

2. Buy a DCAN cable or ICOM

3. Download and install BMW Standard Tools from the Bimmer Geeks website. Follow the instructions!!!

4. Once you've done 1-3 I'll give you instructions for the counter reset with tool32.

Hi.
I have a similar problem with my FRM. Short circuit. I traced it back to read tail light. Replaced shorted bulb holder but no voltage on line to the lamp.
Need to reset the FRM, have a Foxwell 510 but no reset capability.
Downloaded tool32 from Bimmergeeks.
Ready to do it but need your guide bud.

Appreciated.

- load Tool32
- Load SGBD, Group File (File, Load SGBD)
- Load For FRM1, use FRM_87.prg / For FRM2 or FRM3, use FRM_70.prg
- About a 1/3 of the way up from the bottom, select the job "_reset_kurzschluss_sperre."
- Now enter your lamp ID or "argument" into the field. The checkbox for "Data" does NOT need to be checked off. If the job does not execute properly, you can try ticking this box.

Thank you sd*********, this worked for me to reset the counter on the right front parking light.

Some extra steps I needed to do so that I could use my Windows 10 laptop:

- To install the BMW software on Windows 10 I used Windows 7 compatibility mode to run the Installer.
- Run cmd as Administrator
- copy C:\EDIBAS\bin\msflxgrd.ocx to C:\windows\system32
- cd C:\windows\system32
- regsrv32.exe msflxgrd.ocx
- Ensured INPALoader was closed before running Tool32
- Turned the ignition on before running Tool32
- Leave out the "0x0" part (I entered 5 for the right parking light)

I have a 2011 BMW 335i lci with adaptive xenon headlights. I believe I’m having the same issue as most where I used installed aftermarket hid angel eyes and it has now tripped the frm module. I am just asking for anyone familiar with coding that can do the reset process via Remote Desktop connection to please help. I am I willing to pay for your time. Thank you.
