About bmw carnuba wax, is it good for scratch remover ?

Hi guys,

Having two little scratches on delivery of my car that dealer can't fix. I'm wondering if BMW carnuba can help ?

http://www.boutiquebmw.ca/index.cfm?...productID=1369

Thank you very much,

To remove scratches you will need to compound and polish. Wax, if it contains any fillers, will only hide minor issues; Glazes typically are loaded with fillers and hide stuff but they will reappear once the fillers leave the surface. Why couldn't the dealer fix this prior to delivery, was this a new car?

Yes it is a brand new car and I don't know why they couldn't fix it, maybe they don't want to spend time on it.

As mentioned wax doesn't remove scratches, can you take pictures of them?

If they "can't" remove the scratch on your newly delivered car, tell them to pay for it.

Hard to tell from that picture. If they are as light as the picture shows I would think they could be polished out. If gently run you fingernail over the scratch does your nail catch in the scratch?

It's light and I have tried to wash and wax it last week-end but still saw it. As Bobble said, maybe a compound and polish will do the work but I don't know which one to go with.

I brought my car to the dealer yesterday and they sais their esthetic said they cannot fix it and propose me to repaint.

Hang on here, you bought the car new and it was delivered with those scratches and they won't fix it? They say it's cosmetic and repaint, who's paying for the respray? I assume it's your hood. If they are paying for the respary will they pay if you get someone to fix these? Sorry but none of this sounds right, do the scratches catch your fingernail if you run it over them or are they smooth just the mark? Where are you located, in LA? If so you have great detailers available to you for the issue. Let me know the answers and BTW what dealer said this as it's absolute BS to suggest a respray based on those photos.

Just check again after the wash, it's just a mark, with the nail i felt nothing so it supposes to be removed easily. They do offer me repaint for free but i'm not sure to go for it. Unfortunately I'm in Quebec, Canada and it's hard to find a good detailer here.

Thanks,

On a side note. I heard somewhere that swiss wax was the supplier of carnuba wax to BMW. Can anyone confirm or reject this?

Where in Quebec? I know someone in Brampton Onatrio, a pro detailer, he might be able to provide a good resource.

I still can;t beleive they would repaint but not get a detailer to fix it, it would be so much less cost. That simply blows me away.

I'm in Laval, near Montreal and 2hrs from Ottawa or Kingston in Ontario. What is the name pro detailer? I might go there if it's near.

I reached their Sales Director and will bring the car back on monday, let see what he will offer to me.

Thanks alot for your help!
