Opinions Please

Biased or not I don't care

Option 1
2007 335Diesel, Coral Red leather, Sat nav, Sapphire Black, Brushed Alu trim, heated seats, window tints (cheesy) etc etc 10,000 miles aprox £33K
Option 2
2006 335i Space Grey with black leather, sat nav, auto cruise etc etc, 20,000 miles for about 29K

Is the extra for the newer car worth it? More money yes but longer warranty and lower miles anyway. Have I answered my own question

If you can tolerate that Coral Red then option 1 is the best deal IMO. .

i cant stand the sound of a diesel, nor the way it revs. so its the 'i' for me. both color combination specs sounds fine. providing it doesnt have wood on the 335i

of course if u do a lot of mileage the 335d is best compromise. re. warranty cant u purchase extended warranty? isnt it cheaper than £4k?

They are both pretty special in their own way. The additional cost of diesel over petrol is basically lost in the combination of age, mileage, and price so you are effectively getting the benefits of diesel without the premium.

Better fuel consumption, possibly better longevity, lower road tax are the pros for diesel and better noise for the petrol one.

On age and mileage, option 1 is much better both in warranty, likely bad driving, and on subsequent re-sale so there is only one choice.

But... If you are a screaming petrolhead you knows what you gotta do.!!

^ that coral interior is very nice, i wimped out and went for black ^

the 335D is the best car i have ever driven, so naturally i would say go for the diesel. Like it has been said mpg vs fuel prices the diesel is becoming less of a consideration. I personally love the noice of the ( warmed up ) twin turbo diesel engine, i agree though with the petrolheads about the amazing noice of the 335i engine , but i have a vtwin bike to compensate for that Price difference , but an extended warranty if your concerned ? I another big consideration for me would be the interior trim, irrespective of other differences i couldnt live with a burr wallnut or any other type of wood effect ( unless it was a huge difference then i would go through the hassle of having it exchanged ... small things can be tweaked at a price remember )

Overall opinion - DIESEL and get it remapped ( but like you said ... BIASED )

So, for another baised view:

Neither of them!

Go for a 330d M sport manual coupe or saloon, its your choice, theyre both good.

You said you didnt mind biased!

If you want a objective view rather than subjective, then speak to any dealer, line up a spread of test drives and decide for yourself!

Dont forget, we all made our own decisions for our own biased reasons!

Only when you have all the info and experience at hand can you make a truely objective decision for your own right reasons.

Isnt that right Carlos!

tHE 335D is the better bet and once the new CO2 road taxes start taking effect powerfull petrol engines will be very hard to sell on again. Already the trade in price of 3.0litre petrol engines registered since 2001 have dropped a few thousand quid in one month.

Assume they are both SE? They sound expensive to me, both of them. What wheels do they both have? What are the full specs? can't believe you would have ProNav withour Bluetooth, is it Pro Nav or Business nav?

Definately over priced, I have done a quick search:

Dec 06 E92 335d SE Space Grey, Black Leather, 7,000 miles, Alu Trim, a few other bits, £28,995 before haggling.

or

Nov 06 E92 335d SE Monaco Blue, Beige Leather, 18,000 miles, BlueTooth, Prof Nav, Prof Radio, Voice Control, Black High Gloss Trim, ConnectedDrive-Assist, £31,840 before the haggle.

Just can't decide, the diesel can be chipped so easily but I could use the 3K for new TV, DVD etc for my new house! and of course the 335i sounds so so so nice on day to day running. Oh by the way I only do about 9000 miles a year

Can't test drive any right now as I'm on a rig in the Gulf of Mexico

Where is the grey car mentioned in the last post, surely no sat nav for that price!

Thanks for your advice guys, I am literally changing my mind every hour!

still get the 'i' only 9000 miles a year! youll regret not going for petrol!

u can easily chip a 335i yourself too. u dont need some guy to come to u to do it for u... as u do with the D

also the 'i' has better stereo, always a plus point

There's your answer - as you do below average mileage go for 335i and enjoy the petrol engine. If you did more than average miles the D would have been the right choice

Go for the d over the i - haggle about the price and dealer should move about £2K. The d has a longer warranty, less miles and will hold its value better too over time.

By the way I love the Coral Red against the black interior - looks the biz. I was looking to trade mine in a few weeks ago for a 335d coupe (until dealers started quoting silly trade in for the 330d) but found myself drawn to Coral Red.

Sun protection glass is good if you have kids and the folding mirrors are a nice touch - one of the options I wish mine had.
